Brand New "Green" RVer

We are brand new to RVing and we are the proud new owners of a 2005 Montana 3400RL and a 2005 Chevy 2500HD Crew Cab pickup. We asked a lot of people in the RV business and the Automobile business what combination would do a good job carrying us around the country. There seemed to be many different opinions on combinations but the majority supported the combination we purchased. I have read some of the discussion topics on this site and I am realizing that I have an awful lot to learn but we are eager and enthusiastic to get started. After we picked up the rig, we went on a "shake down" trip and things went pretty well. We heard about this web site from some of the campers that we talked to on our trip so we decided to join as soon as we returned home. We would appreciate any and all suggestions that could help us enjoy our traveling experience more.
Thanks for your help.

Welcome Wayne and Cheri to the MOC Family. Up until a few days ago we were neighbors. We just left Florida today and are headed for Myrtle Beach. I say neighbors as we were just across Tampa Bay at Largo until May 1st. Maybe we'll get to meet each other next fall when we once again return to the Sunshine State.
You have good taste in picking a Montana and even better taste with the TV. I am sure that 2500HD will do all you need it to do.

Welcome Wayne & Cheri,

We're glad you found us. You have a great attitude about learning about RVing. There's a heck of a lot of folks that had to learn by their own mistakes. (like us) We have been at it for over 30 yrs. now and back when we began there were no Forums or literature to help us out. It was more like "Well we won't do that again".

This has got to be the best source out there.

Happy your shake down went well and look forward to your reports on your adventures.

Happy Camping

Welcome aboard, Wayne and Cheri! We are all learning from each other here, so you came to the right place. The 3400RL is a beauty, I'm sure you'll enjoy it a lot. Your truck will do just fine, too. Don't hesitate to ask questions, but, most of all, enjoy that new Montana!

Let me add my welcome to the MOC Forum. Experience seems to come in at least two ways. Nothing takes the place of hands-on experience, but the trial and error of it can cause a lot of consternation. However, I enjoy vicarious learning as well. I had much rather let someone else make the mistakes that add to my knowledge base of what not to do. This forum has been extraordinarily helpful in the latter catagory. Ideas that unfold from the synergistic creativity of this group have provided many positive hands-on experiences. I have also learned that there is an unavoidable learning curve in RVing. I have decided that figuring it out is half the fun. Have a great adventure and let us know about it.

Wayne and Cheri, welcome to MOC! You may be new to MOC but there is always something new to learn about RVs—just ask Marsha, she can tell you how humbling learning to back a 5er compared to 25 years of towing TTs has been for me!

We are all on this adventure together, and this is a good place to share yours, the tricks you learn, and to ask questions!

Welcome to MOC and congratulations on the new Montana and truck. I am sure you have many great adventures ahead. Sounds like you have already discovered this forum is a great place to learn about RV'ing in general and Montanas specifically, so don't hesitate to join in and ask whatever you need to. The folks here are more than willing to help.

Welcome - You choose a great unit. I agree with what Steve said about not having a great forum like this when we started out. Learned by trial and error and asking "oldtimers" in RV parks. Happy trails.
