Auto Level Start Point

Ok we have a six point auto level system and it works fine but is there a suggested start point after unhooking? Below level or above level?

For auto level mode to work, you must start with the front high enough so the front legs can retract fully as the rig initially drops down and then begins the auto level process. Not so important if you are manually leveling.

There is no reason to futz with the height before pushing the Autolevel button. Raise the front enough to be able to unhook, pull out the truck and hit Autolevel. The RV always unhooks at the same height from the ground. Everything will work just as is is supposed to.

If the front of the RV was above level when you unhitched,(the most common situation) the "Return to Hookup Height" process (left/right buttons at the same time) will work. The hitch in the giddyup comes when the front was below level when you unhitched. The "Return to Hookup.." will fail with a "Function Disabled" message. You then have to raise/lower the pin manually to the correct hitch height.

If you know the front is below level when you unhook, you can manually raise it above level before hitting Autolevel. But when you come back to hookup and hit the "Return to Hookup..." it will return to the same height you had manually raised it to before and now you have to manually lower it to match the hitch. Bottom line, this way requires two manual operations.
