3791rd

My wife and I picked up our 2018 3791RD last month so far looks good sitting in the driveway and hope to take it out soon. This is our 2nd 5th wheel, our last one was a Crossraoads Hill Country.

I do have a question about the height of our new rig, Montana specs says it is 13' 5". I measured from the top of the front a/c unit sitting on level ground not hooked up to the truck and I get 14' 3". This is 10" higher than what they claim. I plan on measuring again when its hook up but doubt very seriously it will be close to what they say it is. Just wondering if anyone else has had the same issue with the height being that far off.

Thanks

Congratulations and welcome to the forum. My unit is 13'5". I would hook up the truck with the weight on it and measure it that way. That is the only way to do it.

got it

I`m 13`5 1/4" hooked up as measured on a Cat Scale. the ground you measure from could be different on either side. Cat Scale measurements are level across no mistakes.
We had to laugh when we came up on a bridge that was marked 13`9" at 65 mph in Pa., you suddenly start to question your accuracy and kinda hold your breath.

We just picked up our 3791RD Legacy a month ago. Like you, it looks good in the driveway. This is my first fifth wheel. I was going to trust the height stated. guess I better measure. I have a Garmin GPS that I can put the measurements in to suggest different routes if there are low tunnels or weight restricted bridges. Can't wait to take it out.

Don't trust the GPS height warning completely. I live in Md. at the Pa. line and there are 2 railroad bridges that are below 13 ft. in the area and they are not on the Gps I was using for awhile (can`t remember the name now). There is one up in Landcaster Pa. that was 11`6" and not on the GPS. These are off the beaten path of RT. 30, we were warned of the one in Lancaster when we got to the camp site. Went that way for dinner in just the truck and there is no place to turn around with a big unit, talk about a back up problem.

Welcome to the forum! In the park we are currently in we are probably over 14' because our jacks are nearly fully extended on one side. Check it again when you are hooked up.
