Good surprise

I was replacing my rubber valve stems with steel ones on my TV and Monte today. I thought that I would check the code on the back of the wheels for the Monte feeling sure that they were only the 85 psi wheels when to my surprise they all were rated for 110 lb pressure. May have to consider G rated tires now. Am in the process of deciding which tires I want. I was thinking that the 614's would be overkill for my little rig but at least now I have a bigger selection to chose from. Thanks to whom ever put the "right" wheels on the rig. Shame that there are 'Mara-bombs' on them though.

I believe all of the Montana's since the start of the 2010 model year had the 110# wheels on them and yes, all but those ordering special got Marathons on those good rims. G614's can be looked at as overkill, but when I ran 90miles with the IS broken on one wheel and the other tire carrying all the weight on that side I was glad I had them.

Been doing research on the Sailun S637 14 ply G rated tires. Yea, I know, mfg in China but so far good reviews as alternative to 614's and less expensive. I have read all of the cons about Chinese tires but they have got to be better than Marathons. I have been running another 14 ply brand on my TV since 2010 and they still look new. They just don't make them anymore. A good G rated tire would be nice though.

Another brand getting good reviews is Geostar 14 ply G rated tires, A lot cheaper than G614's made in China Yes but more than up to the job for the heavier rigs, worth a look

I do some very serious research before purchasing any Chinese tires.

I understand about Chinese products, but why is there a market for Chinese items? Because Americans have priced themselves out of the market. I am as American as the next guy and I try to buy American when I can find it, but until we make it more appealing to make and sell our own products, there will be a less expensive market from other countries. If there is quality control, then there are some pretty decent product being imported. If I didn't want to support the Chinese market, then why would I buy a Montana? They are putting cheap Chinese tires on their new rigs. And under an American name. Who would think that buying Goodyear tires that they would be coming from China. But until there is a proven, documented problem with a product, I will consider it as an option. Ok, I will get off of my soapbox.

My guess would be that when the quality control is there, Chinese products won't be that cheap anymore. This world is still a "you get what you pay for" kind of place.

The Sailun tire company is Canadian and they have QC that is similar to ours. Two words, Goodyear Marathons. USA quality control. I am not saying that G614 tires aren't the great tires and if I was full-timing it I would probably have them. But for similar products and a lot less expensive, I am glad that there is alternatives for us weekenders on a budget that gives a little better piece of mind.

I won't buy a Chinese tire again OR a Goodyear tire ever. I now have Michelin tires on my car, truck and 5th wheel. And no, I don't have money to burn, just a struggling average person.

Steve, the best thing to do is go weigh the beast loaded for camping before you make any decisions.

My tire guy can't find a supplier for the Sailun tire so I will mark it off the list. He says he can get a 14 ply from Korea, but I think I will just go with a good LT tire here. Was just thinking about going with a 110lb pressure tire since I have the rims, but maybe that us overkill. I am way under max load so Michelins, Wranglers or even a good commercial T/A will work. Have used them all before and never a problem. Thanks for all of the help. Y'all are the best.

The Chinese make quality products including tires. The USA buys cheap products and that is what they get.
