Joining the club.

My wife and I just bought a 2005 3650 which is being delivered mid June. We are taking delivery out of state and hitting the road immediately. As we are newbies, any recommendations on the initial checkout and run through with the dealer would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Congratulations, csharper, and welcome aboard! The 3650RK is a beauty!

There's already lots of good advice in the replies and I can't add but maybe one thing. Unless you have total trust in your dealer, I'd recommend you defer signing the final paperwork and/or check until you've done the PDI and he's fixed anything other than the most minor problems you find. Somehow wanting to make sure he gets your money is influential in getting things fixed quickly and correctly. Some dealers are excellent and trustworthy, others seem to forget who you are once they have your money. Just some thoughts.

Happy Camping Csharper,
Visited your website and saw your new beauty. Looks like you also have the right truck for the job. We have a 3500 and it will go anywhere with our 5er. We live in the southern Sierra Nevadas and have to go up and down lots of mountains/grades to go anywhere. Our 3500 acts like there's nothing behind it and keeps on climbing. So where will your first trip take you?

We are almost as new at this (using a 5th wheel anyway) as you are, but I wanted to say one more thing about the "walk thru" process and more importantly the follow up visit (you know, after you've taken the aspiring the Dr ordered): Keep a very detailed list of things needing correction or fixing as a result of your first few trips and stay on top of your dealer to get you in to the shop to do the repairs as quickly as possible. It's easy to let time go by. We have a 3295 purchased in April. We are just now getting our replacement ladder, etc., from the factory - and we finally get in next week to go over the "little things" needing fixing, like screws falling out of lamps; the slide out leaving marks on the carpet; sticky windows, and ill fitting shade on the window. Use your warranty service that's what it's there for as well. Good luck - if you're in Central Oregon, we are Chaser - 2004 3295rk-2004Dodge3500.
