HEADBOARD AND BEDROOM CURTAIN MODS

Ever since we got our rig, we were not very happy with the material used for the headboard and curtains in the bedroom. We had been thinking of what to replace them with and now thanks to MOC member “Lije Baley” (Bill & Mariana) we have incorporated a refreshing change. When they came to visit last year, Mariana had done a nice upgrade to their bedroom which gave us the inspiration. They have the Sapphire interior so their décor is in blue. Ours is Mocha and I was lucky enough to find the same material Mariana had used but in a “rattan” color on line. We are very pleased with the results. Below are a couple of photos and a link to a more descriptive picture show of the entire project: Headboard & Curtain project. If you click on each individual photo it will open with a description or you can click slideshow.

ON EDIT: I have added a couple of photos below showing the location of the screws that held the original headboard to he wall.

There were about 5 screws that held the old headboard to the wall. They were located around the perimeter of the headboard and hidden under the edge of the material around the border.

Great photos! I, also, want to change the headboard and curtains. They just aren't my style. I haven't decided exactly what I am going to do with them yet but change is in the air! Thanks for your ideas.

Very nice presintation, The French cleat is a good idea. I noticed that you used the OEM curtain base holders instead of letting them free fall, I have been thinking of doing the head board on my Monty, how was your original head board connected before you installed the French cleat.

Don,
There were 4 or 5 screws that held the headboard to the wall. They were located between the material on the headboard and the trim material that went around it. If that isn't clear to you let me know and I will get a photo of what I am talking about.

We thought about just letting the curtains hag freely at the bottom too, but opted to go ahead and make the pocket at the bottom to hold the securely in place. All it took was just a little extra measuring and attention to detail. We are very happy with the way they turned out.

Jimmy,
I found the material online at "House of Fabric". Here is the link to their website: House of Fabric. In the search box on their homepage I just typed in Tommy Bahama to see all of the fabrics manufactured by them.
