Pantry

Well, after promising DW for a couple years I was gonna remedy the piled up veggies in the pantry, I got around to business last week. Built two drawers with full extension glides (100 lb rated) and installed in the pantry space. Makes everything so much easier to access. Sure missed all those tools back home in the shop though.

Great way to utilize the space and a lot easier to find things. Good job. I did the same thing in our pantry, although it didn't take a couple of years, only about one.

The good thing is the installation looks really GOOD!!! The bad thing is the installation looks really GOOD!!! I guess I will have to show DW your post (I twisted my own arm), because I have a hunch that I may be adding a couple of these as well. I don't guess there was any problem with the glide installation and the attachment to the cabinet sides??

Bingo, the bottom glides are resting on the bottom of the pantry; for the top ones, I screwed and glued a 1/2 X 1 1/2 strip on the pantry sides for the glides to mount above. I was afraid they might not hold when we travel again. I then screwed the glides to the side paneling. I'll watch them closely. I had built drawers in the cabinet below the pantry (was for trash can) for pots and pans, and the screws have held just fine in the paneling.

Here's a shot of the top mounting. With all the pneumatic tools back at the stick house, I had to resort to Gorilla glue and brass screws on the drawer construction.

Will,
Are the drawer glides Home Depot, Lowes, or something readily available? DW thinks that is a good idea and we have a cabinet next to the sink in the new rig, which would be ideal for a couple of drawers to hold canned goods.

Will this is indeed a great mod. we looked at this last yr and was going to get the wire baskets from lowes but those folks really like them 90.00$ each. IIRC Jim Schlee had did his this way at goshen in 09. I will get this done over the winter. DW will be soooo happy.

Has Montana quit putting the pull out drawers in the pantry? I am just curious as our 03 has the pull out pantry drawers.

Great job Will,
I did the same as you did with our pantry, it sure makes a differance after you get them installed. I'll be changing all my drawers out a section at a time, all those in the kitchen first, then work forward to the bed room I got 9 there.
Did you use Baltic Berch for the drawer boxes or hard wood?
