3400RL is getting closer

We have accelerated our purchase and hope to do final inspection Saturday. Sign over TT and arrange for the final pieces of the puzzle (installation of stackables and hitch that our local owner included in the purchase). Would appreciate any input on bed clearance for the TW and 3400. Planning first excursion to be Easter weekend at a nearby campground, if we can wait that long (DW is getting spring fever). We appreciate all the welcomes and advice we have received to date and intend to keep posting our adventures, troubles and successes. The only thing left is hoping I can change our name from Hopefulowner. Can we do that without re-registering???

Bingo and Cathy - Our adventures begin in the hills of WV. We are blessed by our 2014 3850FL Big Sky (previous 2011 3750FL and 2007 3400RL) that we pull with a 2007 Chevy Silverado Classic DRW CC dually.

Bingo seems I have seen posted before that 6 inches bed clearance is about the minimum. You may be able to get by with a little less but you risk damaging you TV bed rails if you go over a high curb or something like that. Even at 6 inches that is not very much.
Oh and by the way congratulations. The 3400 is a great unit and we were the same way. We took delivery on April 1st of last year and couldn't wait to take on maiden voyage -even though it was just 60 miles up the road.

Phil, that was a long trip for your first one. We only went 25 miles!

Bingo, I know when I wanted to change my email in my registration, I needed to send an email to one of the administrators. You probably need to do that to change your username. At least they could give you the correct info.

It is super hard waiting Bingo! Only thing worse is getting delivery in January so you still have to wait to use it. It took two months for us just to be able to wash it (finished last weekend). Easter sounds like a good target for the Maiden Voyage!

I believe Phil is right - 6", or you can use the precise measuring method my Service Manager used - two fists. Gee-zoots.

I'm actually waiting to get mine loaded to recheck the pin height. I may end up dropping the hitch down a notch to get the nose down as long as I can maintain the "two fists". That 3400 is one long trailer, and a little up in the front can really droop the back.

Congratulations! Easter will be here before you know it and you will be enjoying your new vacation home on wheels. This year we have to wait until April unless we just can't stand it and decide to take off earlier! Safe travels.

The wait itself was hard enough. The agonizing part was thinking of all those questions about what will fit where and how big is this and not being able to run out and do some measuring. Amazing how everything fit, though. Not always where we expected but we got it all in and actually had a (small) amount of storage space left over!

I would suggest you measure the height from the highest point on the rig, preferably when hitched up. It's not a fun feeling waiting for the crash as you approach a relatively low bridge and are not sure of your height.
