Truck is home again

Well, it is all done and I have the truck back. As stated previously, the hydro boost failed and was replaced along with the Power steering pump. The dealer got it out a day earlier than I expected. That is great because it saved me a day of car rental. I have driven it about 20 miles with lots of turns and opportunities to test the brakes. All seems good.

Stiles,

So glad to hear you got your truck back so quickly. That is good news. Now you can get on with enjoying Glacier!

Glad they got it fixed, what the heck is a hydro boost? A pump, belt driven? Sounds like part of the power steering...

Ozz,

The Hydra Boost is a part bolted to the power steering box that uses the power steering fluid to boost the brakes. If the part fails, you lose both the power steering and power brakes. The same would be true if the power steering pump failed. They replaced both and I bet they did that because they weren't sure which it was. Just a guess though.

Looking under the hood, I can't make heads or tails of what is what. At one time, I did a lot of my own work, but this 6.4 L is such a mass of gizmos, tubes and wiring, I am like a calf looking at a new gate, wide eyed and confused.
