Idiot LOW POINT drains......

As many of us know Montana has moved the Lo Point Drains (LPD) from under the rig to inside the Convienence station. Well 2 of them anyway but the Freshwater LPD is still under the rig causing the owner to crawl under remove the cap, and getting wet in the process, to drain the tank.

I hadn't used my FW tank that often in the old rig but have started using it on the new one. Although I onle drained it once, I found it to be a real pain in the butt crawling under there nd so I came up with the following....

I cut the old fitting off and placed an elbow into the hose to which I attached a piece of flexible pipe to which I attached a PVC 1/4 turn valve and another elbow. I merely open the valve and the water freely drains out.

Looks like a great fix Glenn. My SOB has much the same problem but they added the convenience of hiding it behind a wheel too. Really handy. I think I will try to replicate your set-up.

Glen,

Love the idea. I just had to crawl under our rig today before we left the campground to empty the freshwater tank, because I didn't want to tow all that water weight home and have it cut into my fuel mileage. Looking at your picture I had the same concerns as minkid indicated about it freezing during the winter, but if I we to put a "T" in with the same set-up you have and another petcock valve below the "T" then I could open the lower one when winterizing. Thanks for the great idea!

Glenn,

Great modification. I was under there today emptying a full fresh water tank. I would have loved to have your set up. Are you for hire?
