Kitchen overhead cabinet

How do you keep the cabinet above the micro wave open? It's hinged at the top and will not stay open unless hand held. Thx

I installed metal spring door struts. Make sure you pre-drill for the screws, as the door and stile wood is very hard and you will break the screws if you don't. http://www.rvdesigner.com/prodview.asp?ci=1&pi=27

Nice job Rohrmann! I have a couple of those types of cabinet doors that require two hand operation (one to hold it open and the other to retrieve what's needed). I tried to install a locking hinge type closure, but I didn't do too well, so I abandoned it for now and will try again in the future. Fortunately, we have learned not to use those cabinets to store high demand objects so accessing it is RARE and deliberate knowing two hands are needed.

The door strut is what we used as well. Real quick, cheap mod for brownie points for sure.

Our struts have lasted 5 years now and even though it was cheap to do, it's the mod that made me the biggest hero with Joyce.

My hero added the spring loaded door struts as well. Could not believe it when I discovered the cabinets didn't have them....being a previous SOB Toyhauler owner...it has been interesting to discover the areas where the Toyhauler had better features.

I used the plastic one, two to the pack, from c.w. and mounted only one...so far you issues and if it does go south...I have a spare. Did mine after seeing it mentioned here on the forum naturally. John
