Ford F5

Was driving the dump truck used on my summer job when it turned 490,000 yesterday. Had also never paid attention to what model it was, but noticed it was an F-5 with no room for other numbers that might have fallen off. It's right up with the current times as it has push button start on the dash and several folks swear that they have heard a voice come out of the dash saying " what are you laughing at, you're older than I am". Which unfortunately is true. It was born in 1950.

The first wrecker that operated in the early 60s was a 1950 Ford F4 with a Holmes "Click Click" boom. It had a flathead V-8 with 85 horsepower.
You brought back some memories, Dick.

Yup, it's not very powerful, compared to today's dump trucks, but it gets the job done and it is fun to drive. I get my arms worked out, no power steering (far as that goes no seat belts or turn signals), but really like the old girl.
