Another Extended Warranty Post
I know this is like beating a dead horse, but this is my story. So anyone that is on the fence about extended warranties on their tow vehicles, this could apply, or maybe not.
Never used them but questioned that thinking after I started dragging 15,000 plus pounds all around the country with my TV. At 35,000 miles I got the Ford ESP for just under $2,000 and it included a rental car if my F350 was in for covered repairs.
Today I noticed a "humming" or "buzzing" noise when outside the truck while it was sitting idling. When shutting it off there was a pressure release noise about a minute later. No error code, nothing on the gauges, and the truck ran good.
Since we were leaving on a short 1330 mile run Monday morning I ran it in to my Ford Dealer in Ft. Myers. Ford diesel tech listened and immediately knew it was some type of vac solenoid and something else associated with vacuum system. Several parts needed and 2 hours labor estimated. He wasn't sure but suspected bill would easily be over $700 and probably more.
I go back and pick it up in two days. Meanwhile I am driving a rental, 2015 Expedition, free of charge of course.
So one more relatively simple issue like this and I will be pretty close to getting my money back on the extended warranty.
Don't really want to get a whole debate going again. Just wanted to point out that even though I didn't have a history of ever purchasing these types of vehicle warranties, I did on my F350 due to the fact I was maxing out it's capabilities.
