Diesel Shortage in CO

I heard this on the news the other night and there was an article in the Denver Post this morning that I've linked below. I'd sure hate to scare any of my Montana friends away from enjoying beautiful Colorado but I thought I should let everyone know in case they're driving through.

No problem in this area yet,( Northern, Ohio ) have seen no signs indicating shortage of fuel.

Its the oil company's way of getting a little deeper into your pockets, they always find a reason to bump the prices for one thing or the other, I'am sure you will see it in the price of diesel fuel jump if it has not jumped yet it will, besides cooler weather is not that far off in the northern states. Almost everywhere we go, the price of diesel is as much or more than premium gasoline. Diesel is the cheapest fuel to make. It is all manipulated by the oil companies---but we already knew that, didn't we!

Just as a footnote, we were camping near the town of Divide, CO (near Colorado Springs) last week, and when we went in diesel was $3.13, which I thought was ridiculous since I had been paying $2.95 in Denver. When we came out, the same station had it for $3.49(!). I'm with mobilrvin. The story is that the super low sulphur fuel mandated by the federal government is the cause for the price increase, but most refineries have had it in the pipeline for quite a while now. It's gotten so bad in Colorado that most truckers try to bypass Colorado to the north on I-80 or to the south on I-40, or at least fuel up to get through Colorado if they have to come this way.
I would like to know why all of a sudden it's so expensive compared to gasoline, since it's not much more sophisticated than the crude oil it's made from.

We just moved into the Duluth/Superior area and they have diesel for $3.07 to 3.19 while unleaded is going for $3.13 up. Paid $3.29 in Two Harbors, so we did not fill it at that price. Still too high, but that is about the first time diesel has been cheaper since the end of 2004. No sign of shortage, just have to bend over a little further

$3.05 at a station where I normally don't fill up, and $3.25 in my hometown where I like to do business. 20 miles apart and 20 cents/Gal differance??? .20 x 40Gallons = enough to get me a cold refreshment and a snack and still have change left versus buying it locally.

I filled up about two weeks ago and got and payed $2.99 a gal. On my way home tonight it was $3.17 per gal and the pumps were closed (I did not like the price, but the station runs out all the time). I get on the form tonight and see this post,it is not needed to keep raising price, the oil compainies are greeded.

We thought it was only the west coast! Our diesel keeps climbing, Saturday it was about $3.24 but it could be higher today. Of note, if any of you are traveling up I-5 into Oregon and stop in Ashland to buy gas, beware. They are at least 25 cents a gallon higher for diesel than up the road a mile or two.
