Dog Ramps

We recently did the Mexico Copper Canyon trip, where your rig is put on a railroad flat car and the train takes you through the canyon. We have 2 dogs,Victor, a Rat Terrier (small) and Jim, a Rhodesian Ridgeback mix (big). The flat cars are 4-5 feet from the ground and we knew getting Jim (75 lbs.) up and down would be a problem.

We purchased a ramp from dogramp.com;their longest, and it was great. They're made from a light weight composite and are lined with indoor/outdoor carpet. Ours telescopes in/out (3 sections, about 18" wide, 3' long), latches in the closed position and has a carrying handle. Order to delivery took about a week.

We have looked into the trip on the train.
It has got to be absolutely fantastic!!
Can you put the slides out when you're on the train?
We have two Big dogs & they don't go for rides but once a year for their shots.
This ramp you're describing would be great to get them in & out of the truck.
Thanks for the info and if I haven't welcomed you yet to the Moc,,,
WELCOME !!!!

We have a ramp that we use for the dogs to get in and out of the truck. Got it a few years ago at Petsmart. It cost around 100 dollars. It is made of lightweight plastic stuff with indoor/outdoor carpet on the walking side. It is only 2 pieces and very easy to use - has metal glides between the two pieces to slide on.
Two of our dogs just can't get in any other way anymore.

dmr, I'm just curious, how did you two get off and on the flat car if it's 4-5 feet off the ground? Sounds like a great trip!
