Honda 2000i Companion

I'm sitting here thinking I will get the Honda 2000i Companion with the 30 amp plug for the rig as a late Christmas present. The rationale for getting this genny first is that it has the 30 amp plug-in and that alone makes it the one to get first for the rig. Is my thinking correct from this aspect? Thanks, Tim

I agree and getting the champion is a great start, and you dont need to buy the coupler for that gen set to conect an aditional generator to it, its all internal with that one, it makes for an easier storage space by not having that big box attached to the top of one of the gen sets.

As long as you realize that even though you are using a EU2000 with the 30Amp connector, you're still getting only 15-20 amps of power, that's good thinking. Then when you add the second "Honda" you'll get over 30 amps (and then you only need the parallel cable. Does the Companion have 15/20 amp outlets too? So that you can also use the generator for other applications when not using it for the RV?

I bought my dual Hondas right before the Companion came out. This meant I had to buy that huge box and the parallel cable to add on and get the 30amp RV connector. Those additions cost an additional $200. Ouch! Trailer Trash2, thanks for reminding me about that additional contraption and cost.

When I'm using the 30 amp connector and parallel connection, it is documented (and kinda makes sense), that I should NOT be using the 15/20 amp connectors right off the generator. If I still need power when connected to the RV then I use the RV outlets. Otherwise, I don't use the generator 30 amp connection and then use any 15/20 amp outlet right off either generator.

The companion comes with one 20 amp and one 30 amp connection. I've already got the generator to RV 30 amp rv cord dog leg connector.
