Safety concerns in Desert Hot Springs....help!
We need some of your experience here.
We made winter reservations for a nice (un-gated) RV park in Desert Hot Springs (DHS) a few months ago by reviews on the park. Just last night we happened upon some very bad crime stats on DHS and are concerned. Everyone says to stay away from DHS due to the drugs, gangs and very high crime rate. We don’t want to be around an area with crime 3 to 4 times the national average and fear for our lives when we go to the store.
Palm Desert seems to be the best and safest place to winter around this area, so your input is very important to us.
Time is the essence so we can change our plans if needed (ASAP).
Best wishes to all and a BIG Thanks,
Ron and Linda

Ron and Linda,
We winter in Desert Hot Springs every winter and have done for the last nine years. Yes, Desert Hot Springs has had a reputation for being a high crime area, but we haven't noticed anything around the RV park where we winter. We go to Catalina Spa RV Resort on Corkill Rd. off Dillon Rd. This is south of the citified area of DHS. On Dillon Rd are several RV parks that have great reputations.
What RV park are you talking about having reservations at?

I think the rule don't always believe what you hear applys. When we say we stay in Yuma and not the "foothills", everyone says how bad it is there. So each to his own. Of course we like Yuma and feel that it is the safest in Arizona, and by the way, you do not say what state this RV park is in
