50 amp X 15 amp pigtail
Unit is stored for the winter and nothing running. Can I use a 50X15 pigtail to keep the battery charged and turn on some light if needed?
I can find many of the 50X15 but not of the 50X30 like I would prefer here locally.

No problem doing that. I run mine on 15 amp service any time in storage.
Surprised Walmart doesn’t have the 50/30. They generally do around here. Or an RV dealer would. You should buy a 50/30 somewhere as you may find yourself wanting to stay at a campground that only has 30 amp service and you want to run one A/C.

My unit is stored in my pole building when not it use. It is powered up via a 50 to 15. You (and every one else ) just have to be aware that nothing that draws a lot of power can be used. No a/c/no microwave/no water heater etc.

15amp should get you by, but if you check Amazon you'll find a number of 50/30's. Surprised me a number of years ago, but Amazon carries an wide varitiy of RV parts and reasonable prices.

Two different adapters that are really handy.
This plug allows you to use a standard extension cord to get 15 amps to your rig for charging or to cool down the fridge. Its a 50 amp female to plug into your rig and a 15 amp male to plug into an extension cord. It keeps you from dragging the anaconda out. https://www.amazon.com/Proline-Power...xpY2s9dHJ1ZQ==
A 50 to 30 dog bone is needed to connect your 50 amp anaconda cable to a 30 amp plug when your site does not have 50 amp available.
Amazon is a great source for either.

This year I bought a 35 foot 50 to 30 cord. It has been great. No more anaconda since most of the time we don't have 50 amp service anyway. Its light and easily rolled up and stored. Should have done this years ago

Right after we bought our RV, before we had our 50A outlet installed, I had a 100ft 14 gauge extension cord to 20A 110v to 30A to 50A adapters to the RV. Just to test things out. And we turned things on and off one by one. Until we were done testing each AC unit. We left the rear one on to keep it cool while we explored our new toy.
I went to the house. DW came running in 30 min later and said the extension cord was smoking!!!!
She unplugged it.
I had NOT unrolled the entire length of the cord from the spool. Remember it was 14 gauge. It got real hot!!! It melted down. Very lucky no other damage.
Moral of the story, use at least 12 gauge, unrolled the entire length of cord and lay it flat on the ground, dont over load it

I use a 12 gauge 100’ cord with the 15amp to 50 amp adapter at my house that works well. I can run the 15k air conditioner without any issues. Plan to bury #4 copper in the spring and have the full 50 amps available.

I do this all the time as well.

Cheaper, and it doesn't have the pigtail part. I would think that it might be a little bit harder to accidentally come unplugged by a animal or human walking on the cord and unplugging it.
Just another option...

I no longer try to run the a/c or and high draw item using the 50 to 15 adt. The 15 amp end shows signs of overheating (burnt/ black looking)

That’s what I use when it’s in storage & my residential fridge stays cold & the batteries stay charged.
