mont go in style pull the Monty. If you haven't pulled it very far, you will forget it is back there in a few miles. By the time you rent a small unit you could pay for the extra fuel tour truck will use.

X3. We are currently in New Mexico going to AZ. Hauled the Monty here from Goshen, IN. By in large it tows better than my old 18' TT and it certainly is better to live in. Going to be dealing with some wind tomorrow and would much rather have the Monty back there than the lightweight TT.

I put on 9100 miles last summer and never a problem towing the monty. I have a 3465SA which is 38'4" and never a sway or anything. You tow on the bumper and you have problems all the time. I tried it and traded the truck and trailer in the 2st 9 months

I traded in my 21' TT on my Monte. Much rather tow the 5er as it seems much more steady when truck pass or in strong winds. Also, got about the same mileage with my F250 on both.

The OP asked about rental opportunities in the Atlanta area and not to be dissuaded. Not living there, I would suggest a Google search for RV rentals. I found pull behind trailers going for $400 to $900 a week and $70 to $100 a day beyond that. Here is just one example.
http://lightninrv.com/rentals.aspx?Type=TT

The best (read least expensive) options will come from Craig's list or similar listings. Camping World will offer rentals but their prices are pricy.

What you tend to forget is the hassle of getting the RV home, loading it up (you won't have nearly as much storage space as you are used to), and then undoing everything when you return. It is safe to assume you will take a day on each end to accomplish this. These are days you pay for (along with the ongoing cost of owning your own RV) but don't get to use the rental RV.

I suspect that once the true cost of a rental becomes known, towing your own trailer will look much more attractive.

Montanas do tow very well. As others have said, it is no problem at all. Go for it you'll have a pleasant surprise.

You guys obviously didn't read his question so I'll restate it. I quote "wife thinks it would be better for her if I did not pull the monty". END OF STORY. It took me 40 years to understand "wife thinks" and now I do.
