Hey Ozz, since diesel is so much less costly to refine, do you think the price reflects the fact that truckers have to roll no matter what the cost?

Not if the manipulators have their way. There will be some other excuse followed by a slight increase, then a decrease to the price they wanted all along and we are now conditioned to pay. We will enjoy cheap diesel at $3.xx per gallon until after the 2012 election. Then the conditioning process will start again to move us to the $4.xx bracket when we will remember the good old days of $3.xx fuel.

Not likely Ozz, they got us where they want us. They will just say the Mississippi flooded and we have refineries down. Or some excuse. It will never get better as everyone in Washington is into oil. Thats plain as can be in my eyes. Kind of like congress eliminating themselves from the same laws they enact for us in my opinion. It isn't happening to the point that it will show to us in our wallet.

I hate to be negative, but this is one subject that just irks me to no end. But it will not stop me from my dream...........I Hope!!!

Cheapest diesel I've found here in So. Cal. is $4.25 and it's been that price for several weeks now. Hoping it comes down some more for the upcoming trip!
Seems like diesel is higher relative to gasoline than it used to be...

I noticed that in the Western USA diesel fuel seems to be the most expensive (higher than premium fuel), but I'm not sure if this is true for other regions of the USA. In Canada diesel fuel is usually the same price as regular gas, and most of the time it is the least expensive fuel at gas stations. My understanding is that diesel is the least costly to refine, but now that they claim diesel is ultralow sulfur I'm not sure if it is the cheapest to refine.

Hey KingDaddy, the price has been pretty solid at $4.25 in my part of So. Cal. Here, if diesel isn't the highest price fuel at a station it is equal to Premium. Diesel used to be less than Regular but before all this price gouging when diesel was at least less than Premium, it's the highest price stuff here in So. Cal.

The claim is California is that they process more stuff into it. Huh? They are saying diesel made in sold in California is higher priced or better than elsewhere? That's the dumbest thing I've heard. I'll never know the whole truth. All I do know is that anything will cause the price of fuel to rise in a second, and even when that cause goes away, the fuel companies forget to adjust the prices back down.

Hey all, come on out to Nebraska for the Central Plains Regional Rally and you can get diesel for $3.839 to fill up! At least that is what is now at certain stations and if Ozz is right with his oil price it may get even better by the time of the CPRR! We'll keep out fingers crossed on that! And hope to see you in July for the Rally and cheaper diesel!

Right now diesel is $3.76 at the Kroger down the street in Garland TX; that is $3.66 with the 10 cent discount.

''''Why Are Diesel Fuel Prices Higher Than Gasoline Prices?

Historically, the average price of diesel fuel has been lower than the average price of gasoline. However, this is not always the case. In some winters where the demand for distillate heating oil is high, the price of diesel fuel has risen above the gasoline price. Since September 2004, the price of diesel fuel has been generally higher than the price of regular gasoline all year round for several reasons. Worldwide demand for diesel fuel and other distillate fuel oils has been increasing steadily, with strong demand in China, Europe, and the United States, putting more pressure on the tight global refining capacity. In the United States, the transition to ultra-low sulfur diesel (ULSD) fuel has affected diesel fuel production and distribution costs. Also, the Federal excise tax on diesel fuel is 6¢ higher per gallon (24.4¢ per gallon) than the tax on gasoline. "
This is also educational

Diesel here in this area has been dropping over the last couple of weeks.

Fuel in Kalispell, Mt $3.89
Just saw a price of $4.10 in Coeur de Alene, Id. Sure glad I filled up the Aux tank in Mt. so I can buy more of the really expensive fuel later in Id.

Diesel prices are $3.74.9 on I-40 in Tennessee. If it goes down another cent or two and Delaine and I will hook-up and go to Colorado. Just to get into cooler weather.
