The unfortunate thing about something like this is that no matter how well the ducks are in a row if you have an over zealous and over reaching entity who wants to come after you it will. As noted previously unless you have the stomach, resources and a very good attorney to defend you they are counting on you caving in. The fact that these folks no longer own real property in their previous home state and if they have properly documented that they have not been in the state since they "officially" left the state then you would think that it would be a no brainer. But since the governing entities have unlimited resources (your tax dollars) then they will continue to pursue until you relent or they bankrupt you.

Really a sad state of affairs we have gotten ourselves into, huh?

The trouble is in this case is the people have aged parents that still live in the State and they return to a campground each summer to see them... We have done the same thing because we still have family there... The tax people come to the campgrounds and look for the ones with out of state plates... South Dakota is the ones they are picking on because proximity to MN.... Thankfully. we have Florida plates on ours or we probably would have been in the hot seat also.. We still do use Alternative Resources for our mail forwarding since we travel so much but we have changed our domicile to Florida since this is where we own property... Again, my warning to you is to be sure you know the rules of domicile of the state you are leaving.. That is the one that will go after you, not the one you are moving to...

Helen: I thought your setting looked familiar. We'll be there for a few weeks in Oct, then again from January to April. Hope we can get to meet you.
I think it's a shame how the govt. that WE elect can pull off such devious, vicious acts against the electorate.
