Arizona camping
We are planning on spending the month of March in Arizona. Does anyone have any suggestions for camping near Phoenix or Tuscon?

Lost Dutchman State Park is quite amazing. It is in Apache Junction Arizona. Not too far from Phoenix. I spent a winter there working and would camp in the park during the weekdays.

One of our favorite RV parks was Desert Trails in SW Tucson. It is located at foot of Tucson Mountain Park in the Sonora Desert. Full HUs and plenty of activities if that interests you. http://deserttrailsrvpark.com/

Check out Desert Garden RV Resort.

The site are large and you are not right on top of another.
It is located on Rt 79 in Florence, AZ, 1/2 way between Phoenix (45 miles) and Tucson (45 miles, and Casa Grande, (30 miles)

There is a great county park just north of Mesa. It is Usery Mountain Regional County park. It is located in Maricopa County. It has water and electric and a dump station. Most sites are curved pull throughs. The landscape is natural desert and is awesome.

Not sure if you are looking for a "campground" or "RV Park". We have stayed at the following RV Parks and can recommend any of them: Phoenix area: Meridian RV Park, Monte Vista Village RV Resort; Tucson: Voyager RV Park and are currenty at Palm Creek Golf and RV Resort in Casa Grande. The last three of these have many activities during that time, but reservations are a necessity. These are concrete, asphalt and desert landscaped parks with fairly large facilities. If you're into a splurge, I would check out one of these...... Many varieties in these areas, cheap and sparse to lavish and pricey......

Depends on what you are looking for ...
We stayed at Roper State Park near Safford, AZ. NOT an RV resort (no pool, no clubhouse, no sauna, no fancy anything) A nice quiet place with a lake. Also has a natural hot water spring to warm your bones on a cool desert morning or evening. Nice place to relax. The ducks there came to our door every morning for their breakfast of 2 day old bread. Lots of different birds there in March (last 2 weeks). We had a roadrunner that would scrounge bits of hamburger from us as well. About 2 hours from Tuscon & Saguaro National Park is which is well worth seeing.
It has water and electric with a dump station in the park. The volunteers and rangers were real nice people.

I just wanted to thank everyone for their input. We're checking it all out now. This is a wonderful site.
We've just started full timing - been doing it for 2 months now and are throughly enjoying it except for a few mishaps here and there. We've only put 6000 miles on the camper and yesterday we discovered a broken leaf spring.
Karen and Don Landry - currently in Clermot Florida.
