WHY does this happen ???
OK, I'm useing the shower and I have the water all set where I like it, I get wet and turn the little switch on the shower head to off, soap down and turn on the switch and the water is as cold as ICE,  it will have to run for about 15 seconds to get back to where I had it originally set at.  is the cold water being pushed back into the hot water heater and then causing this symptom I am having with the shower.

Can't say why but we have had 2 5vers & they both work that way. One a Jayco & Monty.

The cold water always seems to win the race. Don't know why but that is the way it is in our 5er and our camper.

Our 3295rk is the same way, the water heater is all the way in the back of the trailer and it sure don't seam like the water should cool down so fast, it would have been nice if they would have installed the water heater somewhere closer to the center of the trailer that way the water would not have to travel 30 feet before you feel warm water, but for now that clod rush of water wil sure wake you up in the morning.

Ours was also that way. I replaced it with a Delta showerhead from Home Depot and that helped a lot. It also has a button which you push to turn the water on and off. No fumbling with a dial on the back.

TT2, I had the same problem. Now I allow the water trickel from the head until after I soap donw, when I turn the head back on it's still warm.

Apparently the distance to water heater doesn't matter. My water heater is centrally located and only about 10 feet to shower -- same problem. I'd bet it is a problem with the mixing valve on the shower.

We never turn the water of while showering. Unless we are boon docking. Shower fast and you wont run out of hot water. Treecounter

We have the same problem. Was a real shock the first few times we took a shower. I've heard that it, indeed, is the mixing valve that is the problem. We just point it away from us for the first few seconds when we turn it back on and that seems to work. Only about 2 or 3 seconds for us. But sure wish they'd fix the problem. HamRad

Had 3 trailers, all have worked that way, so, for at least 20 years the shower heads have worked that way. For us, it is "just that way" and we do as other stated, don't turn off all the way, leave on and shower fast, or point away when turning back on. A new shower head that has a better on off thingy would be nice tho, AL???

I had to learn to move the showerhead to the side the first winter caught me surprise, but I was a quick learner.

Well thanks for all of the come backs every body, I guess everybody is experiancing the the same as we are, I will try the what just148 sugested and see if that works on my shower, the only problen is if dry camping where every drop counts BUT I dont do to much of that any more except when we go to Quortsite. a person would think with all the Tradesman or Tradeswomen out there they would have a answer to this..

From what we heard at the Keystone Montana plant tour, we distinctly got the feeling that they would welcome some competition in the area of vendors. Remember the stove/oven fiasco over the past winter?? They remember at Montana. If they have no suppliers for better shower heads, or whatever it is that we don't like, what are they supposed to do? Well, they could develop it themselves, had the feeling that was not where they wanted to spend their resources. Nice mess eh??

neither of my motor homes had this problem, but both of the Montana's have. I hate it! but as stated above, I point it away for a few seconds.the first time it happened, I took it back to the dealer thinking it was just my camper.

That is the EXACT reason why I WON'T shut the water off while I soap down. LOL I have mastered the 3 minute shower and if that's not fast enough, tuff! I refuse to shut that water off because it's always cold as ice when you turn it back on, even if it's only seconds.

We have had a TT, previous 5th Wheel, motorhome and now Montana. Every one of those shower heads had the same thing happen. I guess it is one of life's little discomforts we have to deal with. On our previous 5th wheel, it would run hot for a few seconds till it cooled down. OUCH !!!!

Every one of our 7 previous units had the same prob. Now the interesting part of the Monty is if we are on 110 the water is the right temp to just use Hot water. When we go to Propane it is so hot we need to use cold. Everyone at the Dealers insist that they both use the same temp controller?? Since we use hook-ups mostly we are not about to FIX the prob! lol

Dersequim, same with ours. Propane is very hot, electric only is just fairly hot.

Same with all our trailers. I was told that it had to do with the pressure the water is under (Pump or outside). The cold water is under straight pressure but the hot water tank acts like a reservoir chamber so it won't "surge " out as quickly as the cold, hence a few seconds of cold before things even out. Don't know if that's fact or fiction, but it sounds good.
