Generator question

I have a 2003 3655FL equipped w/generator prep. I want to install an LP generator. The 5er has (1) 15,000 btu AC. I am looking at (2) ONAN models: Marqui Gold 5500 and MicoQuiet 4000. Has anyone have either model, and the same Montana, and can you operate the AC and the microwave at the same time? Thank you for your replys.

Hi rperry,
We have a 3670RL and had the Onan Marqui 5500 installed and it is a nice quiet model that runs on propane. We have used it to run the A/C with no problems. We haven't tried the microwave and A/C together on the generator but that's because there is a problem running the 2 together when we are plugged into electricity in a campground. That is one of the things our local dealer service dept. is supposedly fixing as we speak. It's one of the few problems we've had with out Big Sky. Without the A/C on the Onan seems to run everything else with absolutely no problem. Hope this helps.

Thank you very much for this information. I spoke with Camping World who does installs for our dealer, and they have just put a 5500 in the same model that we have. I am going to look at it - and order the generator.

We traded in a 3655FL in on the unit we currently have. It had an Onan Microquiet 4000 installed. We had no problem running everything with it. Did not get one on our current unit because we did not use it enough to justify buying it on this unit. It would run the AC and the microwave at the same time. Had no problems with it and it was very quiet.

HI rperry,
Hey, we won't hold your #6 car against you. We like Mark Martin, too. We particularly liked his part in the Gatorade commercials last year where he played the driving instructor! He's a good guy and a good racer!

we have the 3685. same type of generator lay out though...we have the onan 5500 lp...very, very nice..plenty of power.I highly recomend it.the only thing to consider is that if your going to use the generator during the winter cold months, then go with a gasoline model. lp can "wax up" and have maintanance issues.

Billy Ray, that's a new one to me. I've had diesel fuel wax before but never lp. I have heard of low lp pressure due to the low temps since the lp liquid does not vaporize(boil) quick enough to meet the demand in bitter cold but I have never heard of waxing. Anything's possible though.
