Look earlier in this thread and I have 3 pics posted. You could use one or two straps like Rich did. They are handy to have around any way. In the pic I used an orange strap but I will change that to a black strap and I will cover the handle assembly with plastic and black tape so the road grime won't seize it up.

My picture would look about like his except the straps are not that wide and are not that color. The ones we had around were tie downs for a ATV so I used two of them and criss crossed them under and through the spare from those beams. I think without the straps it would take a huge jolt or hitting something on the road to dislodge the spare...but..stuff happens and the straps are a cheap safety measure.

Don't forget to check the pressure on the spare.

Iv'e never had to use my trailer spare, and have not always checked it before a trip. But, I intend to be more diligent in the future - it is now on my checklist. It would be a shame to finally need it, and it not be usable.

During our last trip, I watched a guy taking his off for repair. Some road debris apparently flew up and put a cut in the side wall of his spare.
