If it is locked then there is something worth stealing inside.
Not necessarily! The tailgate itself is worth $1,500 at local "chop shops". Lowlifes abound these days and think nothing of doing a 30 second grab and dash. Of course replacement cost runs a lot more than $1,500.

I bought the V-tailgate from my buddy JayBird and really like it. Nice not having to raise and lower when hooking up. When I put my shell cover on (usually in the winter when we are not camping) I will put the OEM back on for security reasons. But over the past couple of years I have just left the cover off and the tailgate alone.

A lot of times I carry groceries in the back. Feel better with a tailgate and tonneau cover. not locked, but hidden from view.

I am ordering one of these. Saw one in person. Going to install on my new F450. Talked to company and I think it will be best for me.

At least, I never got blamed for the inane references to the mega-thread this time!! It is all Robbie's fault!!!
