price for used Montana
I hope this is the right place for this post. I have been looking for a used Montana and am wondering what is a fair price. I have looked at NADA Guides and am not sure what price I should expect to pay in today's economy. Any help would be appreciated.
BTW I finally found a used Superglide hitch and I installed it as per instructions. Those that gave advice were right. Not that hard, just take your time. Thanks to all that gave advice.

h2ojocky,
We can probably give you a reasonable ballpark price for the used unit if....we know the year, model, options, and your impression of the overall condition of the unit. As a general guide, for new units multiply the MSRP by 0.65 and that would be my best offer. Used units are a bit more tricky.

Used Pricing varies significantly based on year, model, and quality of care. No easy answer. For new units, I have never paid more than 80% of the MRSP.

Go to you local bank or credit union and see what the loan value is for the model and year you are looking at.

x2 What Rich said. Asking price is just that. Even if paying cash, one should still know what loan value is. In the event of a complete loss, you're not likely to get more than that at settlement. Great advice Rich.

After you do your homework on loan value and condition make your first offer something so low your ashamed to even offer it. Be prepared to defend that offer as all you can afford and walk away when it's rejected. Wait a day or two and see if they call and if not then go back and seriously negotiate. A dealer wants to move used units badly. If you want the best deal you need to test how badly they want to move the one you want.
