Pull out bumper

Just traded up for a 2006 Mountaineer. Question: Is there a bike rack that fits the vertical receiver in the pull out bumper. If so where can I find a replacement.

On our previous trailer (Mountaineer), there was a post that laid flat in the rack that could be stood up in the vertical receiver to attach bikes. We took several long trips with three bikes and had no issues. I am unsure where would find a replacement (Keystone?), but the post includes a retaining pin to hold it in place.

The bikes sit on the pull out rack. The vertical bar is there to help support them. I never trusted the pull out rack, so i bought the bumper bike rack from C/W. It bolts onto bumper and supports the bikes much better.

The vertical piece is just a 31 1/2" section of 1 1/2" sq tubing with three holes drilled thru it. The top hole has an eye bolt to tie the bikes to, the bottom hole is pinned the the back angle iron of the rack. The middle hole is for pinning the support in a horizontal position when not in use.

I bolted our rack up securely, and now it carries a 5kw generator. Probably a thousand miles or so, and no problems with it supporting the weight.

Thanks Guys, don't think I will pursure the original equipment as it does sound as though I would be comfortable with that setup. I did see a bike rack from Blue Ox (for motorhomes) that looks as though the down tube mounts directly in a vertical receiver. It is 2" sq tubing so I will have to fabricate a reducer to fit the 1.5" opening.

Looking forward to getting rig out some camping trips this summer.
