DS Flood Lights

We have a 2011 Keystone Montana 3800 RE. We turned our DS flood lights a week ago and now they won't go off. The switch on the panel stays lit also, so thought it was the switch. Got new switch at Modern Trailer and was told that was what was wrong. Put in new switch and they still stay on. Tried turning battery connect key off and STILL stayed on. Was told they run by the battery so thought that would turn them off, but no!!! As soon as you put the wire on the back of switch the red light comes on.
My husband and I are going crazy trying to figure this out. Has anyone out there have any ideas???? We are not real electrical inclined. LOL

If the flood lights are intentionally or unintentionaly turned on by the remote ... they have to be turned off by the remote. The wall switch will not turn them off.

With my 2010, I found if I unplugged (shutting down the converter), at the pedestal and killing the battery it would go off and stay off after reconnecting.

I agree with dieselguy, you need to use the remote to turn them off.

Dieselguy they weren't turned on with the remote. They were turned on with the wall switch. Will try disconnecting at pedestal in morn and turning battery off and see what happens.

The remote has been known to get involved almost on it's own. Try turning it off that way first before more drastic action.

Loads of experience by members here, this problem comes up several times a year, ...and it always ends the same way.

Take our advice, just use the remote to turn it off, ...you can thank us later.

Still wont go off. unplugged from shore & turned battery off. Can't use remote because it has never worked from day 1. Had it in shop twice to get it fixed and nothing, so just threw it in drawer and decided it was one of those things that Keystone put in that is junk!

I wouldn't call the remote "junk" as many of us here use and love it. Since you are sure the remote was never used, then the next place to look is the remote "brain" located on the wall of the front compartment (where the batteries are). I believe the wire which illuminates the DS scare light should be labeled on there. I would disconnect it and see if the light goes out. The "brain" looks similar to this but is a picture of an older one. Yours may appear different.

....but, did you try the remote, or not? Try a remote reset if it still does not work.

We have a 2010 3665RE that has the DS Flood and LED light on. We do not have a remote so we have no idea why it will not turn off. HELP. Thanks.

What is this remote of which you all speak? Should my 2016 3610 Legacy have one? Not sure how I feel about having another remote

Mark-- The new units do not come with a remote. They came with some units a few years back but I think Keystone realized the remote was more of a hassle than a good thing and they eliminated it.

Actually I'm kind of relieved.. There's like 6 remotes in this thing already, LOL
Thanks!

I have this same issue and the remote has not resolved the DS Flood light issue. Where is the inverter on the 2011 keystone montana? The "brain"? If so, I disconnected that, the fuses, the battery disconnect, shore power and it sill never turned off.

Did you figure out how to turn the outside marker lights off? I can't figure it out either.

I take it you are Jmwolf365 over on the Keystone forum where you have posted numerous time about this problem.

There is no inverter in your Montana. There is a converter that produces 12V output. Many people confuse the two.

Removing shore power is possibly a good idea but not the solution.

It is likely the "Brain" (see Post #6 above for a picture) is wired directly from the battery. Turning off the disconnect switch does not turn off the "Brain"'

The "Brain" has a 12V input and 12V ground connector that supplies it power (see pic above). You can disconnect them (be sure to cover the + wire so it doesn't short).

The scare light is powered from the "Brain" and it's wire could be removed to turn it off.

Has the Remote ever been used before?

Has the Remote ever been "Programmed" (i.e. paired) with the "Brain"

What is the history of the remote? How did you come to find/use it?
