Tow Vehicle Insurance

I've been with State Farm for 35+ years. Just got the renewal notice. Annual cost = just a bit over $1200.00.

Did an online quote with Geico using same coverage we have with State Farm and Geico came in a LOT less.

I'm thinking it's time to change, especially since my health insurance just went up $100 a month and will probably skyrocket in 2014.

We are full-timers (Escapees) with Livingston, TX address.

Tell me about your insurance company for your TV. Geico? Progressive? Any other company? Service?

Thanks!

I used to be with Geico and went with USAA. But last year they really increased my insurance so back to Geico. Pay $1540 for the truck, 2 cars(one liability only) and the Montana a year....

It all depends on what state you live in ,I shopped for a while and I have been with AAA/Progressive for a few years now and they are RV friendly with good rates but like I said a lot of variables

State Farm dropped us when we went full time in 2000. Since then we've been with National Interstate through Explorer RV in Ohio and are presently are with Progressive at about $1400 ($1356) per year. This includes $24 per month for allowing me to pay monthly ($1.00 per month for each policy). Explorer RV can provide you with good insurance as well as Progressive.

We're with progressive and overtime have gotten discounts that have kept the price reasonable.

Been with Geico for 30 plus years now with Cars, and 5ver. They also offer the full replacement option for the 5ver for the first 5 years of coverage if you ask for it. We received a loyalty letter from them last year indicating our coverage was now good for a lifetime and would/could never be cancelled.

Been with Farmers Insurance since Moby Dick was a Guppie ... decent rates and good service ... however as with most all else now days, they've been steadily bumping up the price. $705 / yr with $750 deductible ... pay by the year to get that discount. Yeah, my ole truck isn't right off the assembly line by any means, but I keep her shining like a new one inside and out, with a few mods she pulls to meet my expectations, and my property tax is easy on the wallet. Heck, I don't even need to know what DEF stands for yet.

We went with National General when we went full time. Had Nationwide for the S&B and all cars before and Progressive for the RVs, which includes free Mexico Comp coverage. NG offered the homeowners type of coverage for full timers along with the normal auto/rv insurance. They came in quite a bit cheaper than Progressive who has been more more expensive for auto every time i've requested a new quote but comparable for RV insurance. I did keep my older SOB 5'er on Progressive to get the additional Mexico coverages since it spends a lot of time south of the border.

Had been with Allstate for 25 years and about 3 years ago decided to shop around. Geico saved me $984 per year for same coverage at same address.

Complicated question with state regs, bundling, driving record, discounts, deductables, liability selections, etc. I use USAA and pay $426 a year for the truck and $340 a year for the wifes car. The Montana is insured thru Progressive, as is our boat.

I'm sure all of them have something like this now, but State Farm and Farmer's didn't when I was with them. With Progressive we get increasing discounts over time up to a certain level and since we've been with them 3 years we have a "small accident forgiveness", once we hit 5 years we'll have a "large accident forgiveness". Probably worth a lot less than it sounds, but keeps me happy.

We went full time in March. Based on DQDick and others on the forum we got a quote from Progressive on the Monte. The full time package with Progressive was cheaper than most and IMHO better. We then had them quote our vehicle policies the next month and they were able to give us better coverage for 40% less! We had been with our previous insurance company for over 20 years with no claims. When we purchased our golf cart we didn't bother getting quotes we just called Progressive and insured it. It is easy to do everything on-line with them and billing can be paperless, which for us is a requirement. I haven't had a claim with them yet so I can't say how that would go.

We have State Farm for everything, they don't advertise Rv ins to the public because it's only offered to existing policy holders. That is what I was told by agent. My Rv policy is $800. yr.

No matter who you are insured with, it's wise to shop every couple years to make sure you're getting the best deal for your money.

State Farm is good unless you go full time in your RV. Then they'll cancel your insurance. By full time, I mean you no longer live in a stick house that you have insured by them. How do I know? Don't ask.
