Morryde pin box question

I have a Morryde pin box on my Monty. It has a pull rite superglide capture plate bolted on under the regular pin box. I need to remove this capture plate since I have a different truck w/ a B/W companoin hitch in it. I called Morryde about removing this plate and they said "just unbolt the 4 bolts ,there is no tension on them." When I took out the first bolt, the round tube that the bolt screwed in had a lot of tension on it. I finally got it back together. Has anyone had any experience with something like this???

You may be over thinking the process. Remove the 4 bolts, remove the plate and reinstall the bolts. Q to specs.

Loosen all four bolts before removing any one bolt, see if the tension relaxes.

Don't forget to remove the four plastic blocks beside the tubes. You won't need them with the B&W.

Don't be so hard on yourself daily double. It's better to over think things and not need it, than under think things and end up in trouble. Over thinking teaches us things the easy way. Under thinking teaches us things the hard way. I think your choice is far better! Nothing stupid about that!

This follows the MOC slogan - There's no such thing as a stupid question.

Sparky,
Your hitch has little aft surface area. Take a look at a Reece hitch and your capture plate and notice where the two would engage. Something is going to give when a turn is made, just ask my dealer. He bought me a new capture plate and repaired his hitch.

Just reread daily doubles question. I have the rubber pin box and when locking further I understand the problem. Love the B&W companion hitch. Would have liked the goose neck because you have more room in the bed.

Why do you have to remove the four plastic blocks? what happens if you don't? Thank you for your reply.

The Mor/Ryde pin box is made to absorb front to back motion (chucking) and it is also engineered to to absorb some side to side motion. With the blocks left in you are keeping it from absorbing side to side motion therefore limiting its ability to function completely as engineered. Another words remove them to get the best ride. If you have a Superglide hitch they must remain installed due to the way it functions with a capure plate. I hope this explains it.
