Fixing the wobbly Theater Love Seats

Another improvement to our living room. The Power Theater Love Seat was rather wobbly and I really didn't like the idea of screwing down directly to the freshly installed new floor with several screws.
Solution:
Cut two 1x6" boards to fit under the steel frame (one in front other in back).
Using a wood bit drill 11/4" holes to match the rubber feet about 1/2 the depth of the wood. On the front you will also need to drill holes to allow clearance for the mechanism mounting bolts.

The idea is the rubber feet sit in the holes and it does a better job of stabilizing the two sections together. You can then run about 4 screws thru the steel frame into the lumber without going all the way thru it such that you don't contact floor. That way the couch slides on the floor but is very stable otherwise. If you decide you need the couch screwed down for travel you only have to screw in the two boards with one screw each but honestly I don't think it is necessary, particularly on our model where the slides and a half wall more or less box the couch in. This project made the couch considerably more stable in our case.

While the boards are mostly hidden, I did stain them to match the décor anyway.
