Lippert Auto Level Jacks

Has anyone raised their jacks up so that they are not as low when they are fully retracted. They seem low the way the factory sets them up. For people that add the Snap Pads to them that adds another inch or so making them even lower. What's wrong with raising them a hole and adding pads or blocks under them if needed?

Folks have done that, but in 8 years of full timing with 2 different Monty's we have never needed to and we worked 5 years for Fish and Wildlife and took it down some dirt roads that were a stretch to call them roads.

We have ours where they were installed from the factory and several years ago put the Snap Pads on and haven’t had any problems, and we even run a bit nose high. I doubt there is a problem raising them up, so whatever makes you happy will work. Yeah, even with them where they are, we’ve had occasion to need blocks if we are in a really bad location, so it’s still good to carry a set.

We have a 2017 Montana and the front jacks are very low. I had two new jacks installed by the factory and had them raised up one hole from original as well as raising my fifth wheel one hole. Jacks were too low and sometimes would hit the speed bumps in the campgrounds. this solved our problem.

I moved rear jacks on my 3750 one hole, no problem, if you decide a floor jack under the Jack makes it much easier

I have. 2018 Montana 3121RL with Snappads and I have never bottomed out so to speak? My Montana sits 6” above my bed rail on my 2016 F350 Crew Cab SB FX4.

As long as the Hydraulic legs are all the way up you should not have any problems...

Also please remember that the distance the jack can travel down is fixed. Therefore, if you raise the jack you will have less travel down and potentially not be able to level the RV.

Didn't have to do anything to the ones on our previous 2012 Montana but raised the front ones on our current 2018. Don't use snap pads because our favorite CG requires use of wood anyway.

But if you raise the legs it means the further the shaft will have to drop, doesn’t this make it wobble more? Of does one bolt holt make that much of a difference?

Had to move mine up one hole the day I brought it home. I couldn’t turn on to my drive without the right rear hitting.
Been fine ever since , I carry 8 - 2x12” blocks that makes up for any leg travel.

We moved ours up 2 holes, and I purchased the Andersen jack pads to keep the jacks from extending too much when used. The Andersen pads are very well made, and with the magnets at the top they are very easy to use and remove.

Those Anderson pads look nice but a bit pricey, for 6 pads that's 300 clams.

They are very pricey, but they are very, very well made. They should last several life times. The magnet on top makes them trouble free to use. I am not an employee or supplier of Andersen, in fact I had trouble with their ultimate hitch and had to return it. I am running the B&W companion, with the puck system, and I am extremely satisfied

I am a big fan of the Andersen WDH bc I have it and used it, I now have their Ultimate Goosebeck hitch and love it but I agree the price on those 6 little cans with Magnets is a lot and I use Camcorder Blocks, less than $76.00 for 30 blocks but they do make great hitches.

I did raise my front ones up one hole. After catching a railroad tract in Alaska and bending the front passenger leg back 10", you bet I raised it.

Yes, but just the fronts. Raised up 1 hole, no blocks required. Leveling works the same as it did prior to raising them. Rig is 2015 3625RE.

I had to raise the front jacks on our 2015 Monty account very low ground clearance. I drilled additional holes in the mounting pads to raise the front jacks account they were in the top hole already. I now have plenty of ground clearance and have never had to add blocks under them to unhook or to get level. The other four jacks are high enough to be no problem as is.

As to stability when leveled up the longer the rams are extended from the cylinders the more wiggle one will have. If we're just overnighting I don't put blocks under the pads but if we're going to stay longer than that I put down two 2 1/2" blocks under each pad to reduce ram extension and make the RV more stable.

I have the same truck and hitch as yourself. Are you using a slider or fixed? I am using fixed but feel like I need more room for those sharp instances.
Thanks,
Stuart
