Should start installing the panels on Wednesday. Still working on getting my house ready to turn over to my son. Really looking forward to full timing. Maybe I can get some rest once we are on the road

Ok you convinced me. I just read up on the Smart Phase Selector and placed my order. I would like to get the most out of my inverter and this system looks like it will do just that. Also ordered a second easy start for the other A/C. Might as well install them both at the same time.

Good! Let us know how well it works for you. The smart selector is pretty neat. I’m retired, a master electrician for 45 years. It’s the best solution In my opinion. Happy camping ! We’re heading to gulf shores right after Christmas to get away from this cold

Drafting a MOP for the start up and testing of this system. Maybe a full load test on the inverter and some Infrared shots to make sure everything is snug.

Just wondering, did you drill a hole under each panel and rout wires through attic?

Just installed the panels. Will install the combiner box and wire the panels in the next few days. You can see the #2 cables on the roof waiting to be connected. I will use one cable for these panels and the other for future panels. I will have two combiner boxes. I placed the panels where there should be no shading from the a/c units.

My current LiFePo4 battery has a recommended charge rating of 45amps. I have 4 of these tied in parallel with first battery as negative then last one is positive feed for supply cables. Can I now increase my charging current to say 80+ Amps? Does the charging capability increase the same way as the amperage output does when doing parallel connections??

I will let the experts answer that question on charging amps. I have my batteries individually fused and connected to my dc buss. I kept each battery cable the same length to balance the resistance for each leg. That should keep the batteries balanced to prolong their life. I will see.

You should follow your particular battery manufacturers charge profile settings. Not all LiFePO4 cells are the created the same. My cells for instance have a .5C recommended charge rate but that is 350amps in my case.

Good point. I am waiting to hear back with the battery manufacturer answer. The distributor was not 100% sure.

I would search google for a spec sheet for the specific battery

Just out of curiosity with the equipment you appear to want to connect why didn’t you go with a Quattro vs Multiplus inverter to start? You wouldn’t have needed the AMsolar SPS and I believe the Quattro’s transfer switch rating is higher but don’t quote me on that

Lets hope you will be tickled pink with how this one performs so that you will not have to do it again. I just thought there might have been a specific reason and always looking to learn something. Do let us know how you like the SPS please. Did you get the silent one?

Yes I received the silent one. It also came with a RJ11 jack on the front. Not sure where this would communicate. I submitted a request for information on the jack from AM Solar

I too am looking forward to your review of the SPS. I only read good things about it. My design plan is similar to yours. I looked at the Quattro and while it has some high capacities, it’s also twice the price of the Multiplus and SPS combined. I am still going to arrange the AC sub panel such that the high consumption loads are on one leg and be disciplined not to use those when boondocking. I do like that the SPS can add inverted amps to both legs when on 30 amp service.

Mclord I would take another look at the Quattro. It offers a lot of value for that increased price. For me I want to get rid of the sub-panel arrangement. I want to remove a transfer switch to simplify things for me. I will likely convert to 24v to address my desire to be able to run anything I want to whenever I want to without concern for how I have wired my distribution panel.

I’m inverting

Yahoo. Was to cold here in Atlanta to run the A/C but I did run the heat pump on batteries and my 15amp plug by the shed. The beauty of modern technology. Had a heck of a time getting my computer to talk to the inverter but finally got them to settle their differences and let me set the charge parameters for the battle born batteries. Last step is to wire the panels to the combiner box and then program the charge controller. I can see the light at the end of the tunnel.
