Hinge on storage door

Hello all,
This is a picture of my storage door under the refrigerator.
I put a Piano hinge on it and cut the screw ends off so it would look like it was attached by the 4 factory screws.
I put a double magnetic catch on it.
I'll post Two pictures in installments.

So, Ozz, what's under the fridge? I figured it must be a dead air space for some reason or another. Is the air hot under there? I think it's a good idea to put a storage space there. Good job.

We did ours with two self closing hinges. Doesn't need a catch. Hasn't come open in many miles and very rough roads. It isn't warm under there. As you can see, it is carpeted. There is an electrical junction box (closed up) at the very back. It is a great place for trays, cookie sheets, etc. Took us about 1/2 hour.
Happy trails......................

I did ours on our 3295 like Parrothead did but on the new one I think I'll copy Ozz's approach. That way I do not have to try to find black hinges. Thanks for the pictures, Ozz. They help a bunch.

See another Montana or Mountaineer on the road? Flash lights twice, it might be one of us!

Ozz, when I went to Lowe's they had 2 different sizes. They are both the same length and will have to be cut but which one did you use? Here is the pic. Thanks Kathi

Kathi,
I went with the 1 1/2" one, nice pictures! I wrapped the cut off screws with electrical tape so they would be secure in the holes. Good luck with the project.

Ozz,

Your second tiny picture isn't showing up when I try the link. Does it work for you?

Parrothead,
Yes, sometimes, I think it's cute, and........she's cute! You must have been a good girl. Parents don't call their young children affectionate names, if they are bad little girls.
Take care,
Ozz

Ozz, did you have any trouble with the screws that came with the hinge? Mine won't even screw in without breaking the head off even if I pre drill the hole and use a hand screwdriver. Should I go and get a different type of screw? Thanks Kathi

No, Kathi,
Just make the drill the same diameter as the shank on the screw. Hold the screw up to a drill bit and eyeball the shank, or middle part minus the threads, that will be your gauge. You can experiment with different sizes of drills, as there are many holes.
Good luck, Ozz
