Honda Genator Cap for External Tank

I am trying to find a gas tank cap for my two 2000 generators that will allow an extant tank to be attached. I have an old Honda outboard gas tank and it would be perfect to feed my generators. Doe anyone know where I can find these caps ? Thanks

I'd check with any dealer that handles the Honda generators. IF they don't have them on hand they should be able to order one for you. I haven't checked on Amazon but my guess is that someone there may have them also.

I purchased replacement Honda brand gas caps rather than the 3rd party ones. Some of the metal caps have been reported to not be an exact thread match and as a result have damaged the threads on the generator. You are assured the Honda replacement caps will seal air tight (absolutely critical for the external system to work) and not cause any damage.

Dis-assemble the on/off valve on the top of the caps, drill out the center of the caps and install these quick connects listed below, makes for an easy to manage setup. The connector needs a 3/8" hole. Use an O-ring on the outside and a brass 3/8" threaded F/F air hose coupler inside the cap to secure the connector. I used tygon gas line rather than regular gas line to keep the bulk of the setup to a minimum.

Having the extended run tank will let us run the A/C non-stop for over 14 hours, or lets us use the generators (without the air) without re-fueling for a week of boondocking.
