It was done by MorRyde. They sent me new rotor, caliper and pads. Got them in two days - the job is finished.

I did have a bad bearing due to over tightening and had to replace that too. I'm going to talk to them when I'm up in Goshen at the Rally.

I've got a spare set of Bearings and Races now that I've added to my parts inventory.. Timkens - US made.
I was afraid you'd say that - ours is going in Monday for the disc brake upgrade. I was just going to drop it off, but now I'm wondering if I should stay and "supervise". These kinds of problems are why I started doing my own mechanical work when I was just a teen. I had the oil changed in my car and they left the drain plug loose. No long term damage as the light came on and I noticed it immediately, but the lesson was learned. Now that I'm older, I'm reaching the point where I either can't justify the pain and agony of doing major items (like upgrading to IS and adding the disc brakes) vs. paying for the labor. I was hoping I could insure getting a good job by having the factory do it, but now I'm wondering.

BTW: Timkens are the only bearings I'll buy - another lesson learned long ago!

The guy at MorRyde who was doing the work seemed competent. I'm just going to chalk it up as a bad day because many people have had good experiences.

Maybe I'm just being too easy on them. I try to do most of my own work too for the same reason. I manage to do about 80% of it on the truck and almost all on the monty.

I do have to say that putting a brake pad on inside out is inexcusable but what can I say?

The bearings were also too tight... that doesn't seem like a bad day - it seems more like either the guy who did them was a rookie, or someone there needs to read up on how to install wheel bearings.

Good luck with the upgrade. I think you will be happy once done but I might want to stick around and keep and eye on things. Perhaps I'm just getting too jaded but you know the old adage... screw me once shame on you... screw me twice shame on me.

When I dropped it off this morning, I specifically asked that all the brake shoes be installed correctly.
