Gap in seal on top of slide

Last Night, we had a blowing rain coming at the living room slide on our 2007 342PHT. There was a slight leak in the middle ceiling of the slide. Today, I went on top and looked at the slide.
On the ends, for about 18 inches the rubber seal is making good contact with the slide roof. There is a gradual taper, until in the middle of the slide, there is about a 3/8 inch gap between the seal and the roof. The roof is solid with no soft spots or tears in the rubber roof. Could the slide have dropped in the middle? If so, what is the fix? And, what would cause it? The only way I see to fix it is to crib up a hydraulic jack in the living room and try to push it back into position. Please help me before I do something stupid.

I can't bring up the actual post from one of the MOCers, but I did copy the content ....

Thought I would follow up with the fix I did in case anyone else needs to do so. It was much easier than I thought.

1) Remove decorative fasica. 3 pieces. Easily pries off
2) Jack up the center of the slide using a car jack. Do not get carried away as the aluminum was meant to be straight and not crowned upward.
3) Remove 1 x 6 x 12 board to expose aluminum frame.
4) Take a piece of 3/16 gauge 1.75" x 12 foot angle iron (Painted to prevent any rusting and screw that to the aluminum.
5) Replace 1 x 6 x 12 board ( I preferred to use oak but was unable to find x a 12 foot piece) I just flipped the board upside down so that the bow was crowning upward and pried it into place against the angle iron.
6) Remove jack
7) replace fascia.

This resolved my problem quite well. It will most likely last for a long time. Hope this may help others.

Dustin

Thank you, Dustin

Do you know if this is a common problem and what causes it?

Dustin was the poster ... I was just forwarding his info. I'd say about all the larger slides sag a bit in the middle ... some worse than others especially if a heavy weight has been walking on the slide roof during cleaning. The larger slides have a big span with no support ... if I sight down my 3 year old unit, it has a slight sag, but no enough to draw away from the top seal ... yet. Note Dustin's change in material size down at the very bottom of his post if you plan on going this route.

I guess for a temporary fix, I will put some 1X4's at the corner in the opening there, crib up a jack and push it back in place. I will do the permanent fix when I settle in for the winter in New Mexico. And I have been bragging about how trouble free Montana trailers are.

Hi

They all sag just more of Keystone lack of engineering.

With cribbing consisting of a 20lb propane tank, the orange plastic squares for blocking your trailer, and a 3 ft. 2X6, I managed to put a hydraulic jack in the middle of the slide overhead. It is now 1/4 inch lower than the ends. There was some discussion about the lineage, offspring, and whether or not the supreme being loved the entire apparatus. I recommend that you do not try this at home.
