Batree testing is easy and a long-forgotten art. Have yer Maw take her shoes off , get her feet wet, remove batree and set on ground, have Maw step on batree with each wet foot on the two round things sticking out of the top of the battery. Here is where the ciphering comes into play, you will need a measuring stick:
No jump = dead batree
One foot jump = 1/4 charge
Two foot jump = 1/2 charge
Three foot jump = no problems, the batree is good!!

Try that when eating Ozzs dim sum and you could win the jackpot on funniest home videos.

All good for some laughs.
I started this thread with the satirical point of view on what I've seen in other forums. There is always some dolt with his beloved can pull anything half ton pick-up that wants opinions on hauling around a 15,000 lb. fifth wheel, and even further amusing are the responders that actually encourage him to do so, as long as he stays on the flat land. Then the others with the how long will my water last and then for some real fun are the battery longevity discussions. It brings out the myths and the holier than thou electrical engineers that will drop down into discussions that are obviously too deep for someone asking such a question to begin with. The only thing I missed is the how much will my insurance cost, probably the most useless question on all the forums out there.
Then there are the simple mechanical problems like this screw is backing out, and it has a star shaped head, what kind of vise grip should I use and which way do you turn it, part of my campaign to license hand tools or at least provide simple diagrams with each tool suggest how to use it. Everybody knows a large flat tipped screwdriver is never used to turn screws but makes an excellent wrecking bar with a handy handle and hammers are not for nails but are used to speed up a process.
Tires, don't even go there. That's good for half a trillion gigabytes of discussion. How about what's the best fifth wheel out there. The responders answer is the one they own, that's why they bought it. The list goes on and I bet you can add many more.
Hope you have as much fun as I've had with this.

That's the main reason I like the MOC Forum, most questions are reasonable questions and gennerally get reasonable answers or suggestions. I have to laugh when I see one of those post on the other forums where someone pulla a 40 ft Triple Axle ToyHauler across the country at 75+ MPH and claims 15 to 16 MPG with his ShortBox 3/4 ton TV.

Even if it was in jest and/or satirical, if you decide to experiment with the battery testing procedure, please post some pictures on the forum!!

Bingo, I think you need a disclaimer on that procedure.

It's the best battery test yet devised and if you don't mind, I think I'll use it on another forum next time a truly asinine battery question pops up.
