Replacement Dometic Freezer hard to open
We just installed a new replacement Dometic refrigerator and the freezer door is so hard to break the seal and open that I think I might break the flimsy handle. Any ideas?

No idea about a solution to the problem. However, just to let you know you aren't the only one having the problem. Just purchased a 2010 3400RL in Feb, used it three times now, and on every trip the Pat complains about how hard it is to open the freezer door. It seems as if it creates a suction to make a tight seal.

Don't know how true this is, but the dealer told me that was normal?
Maybe that was was part of the lip service I get once in a while.....
Anyway, the other 3 units I had prior to my 08 Montana..did the same thing.

Ours have been hard to open only immediately after closing the freezer door. If you wait a minute or two they would open normally.
Both Dometic and Norcold have been that way for us.

I agree with Greener ... all RV refrigerator freezer doors I've ever owned were / are VERY hard to open just after you close them ... wait 30 seconds or so and all is well. Perhaps liberally spray some silicone on the seal to lessen your issue??????

I think it has something to do with the cold air causing a vacume of sort when I close the freezer door I can hear the air sucking and it even pulls the door hard inwards watch it some time.
those magnets cant be that strong.

Thanks for the insight. We have had our 09 monty since new and have had the very same trouble. after a minute or two, the door opens normally, but if you close the freezer door and immediately try to open it, you have a problem. It almost seems as though you are going to break the door handle before the door opens. Patience.....:-)

Same with my Dometic, open door, close door, hard to open. What I do is, if I am getting into the the freezer and will need to open the door again ( ice out, ice in ) I do not close the door all the way, close just enough before it clicks closed. No problem opening then.
