Mor/ryde rubber update...

After some failed attempts to get picts through Mor/ryde's email filters, I finally got them to Chris Elledge of Mor/ryde. He has set up an appointment for me at Josam Frame and Alignment of Orlando. It is only about 20 miles from me and I should not have any problem getting it there this coming Tues (22nd).

Mor/ryde is shipping the part for free right to the repair shop, who will send the bill directly to Mor/ryde for the repairs. Apparently this is only supposed to take about 1 1/2 hrs.

It is called a "bond failure" by Chris. He says it happens in about 1 out of every 500 assemblies. He did give a little pause as he gave me that figure over the phone, so that may not be an "official" statistic - just a rough estimate on his part.

I will keep everyone posted...

Dave,
It's good to hear Mor/ryde is taking care of you, although I never had any doubts, in my book they get an A+++++++ for customer service

Chris worked with me when Mor-ryde sent me the wrong piece for my hitch. Great guy. He kept in touch through the repair and took care of everything. A real stand-up guy and great company. Glad you are getting taken care of.

Today, I talked to Gary, Mor/ryde's rep who was at the booth at the Tampa show (He recognized me as he was one of the Mor/ryde presenters at the MOC Rally in Goshen last fall). Cheryl wanted assurances that my pulling her "home" for 20 miles down I-4 to the repair facility was not going to hurt it. Gary told her that there was no way that this move would hurt the Montana. He said it will list slightly, but it will ride just like a normal, non-Mor/ryde suspension on that one side. He guaranteed her there would be no problems. I think she feels better...

Dave, I'm glad they're taking care of you. Would you mind describing what to look for to see if we have a failure? I checked mine a few days ago and they look fine but I'm not sure what a failure looks like. Thanks.

Steve, did you see the pics? I can repost if needed. I just got back from Josam Frame & Alignment. Since Cheryl had to work, Richfaa went with me.

It took the approx 45 min to replace the rubber bushing. The failure occurred near the center steel plate in the bushing - but not AT the steel. The rubber sheared from itself, about 1/8 inch from the center plate. This is supposed to be a "1 in 500" occurrence. Not hard to spot it. If there is a failure, there will be a slight list, but it will not hurt the Montana. It will ride like a normal spring - pre-Mor/ryde - suspension. This is per Chris Elledge, Mor/ryde rep.
