Cracking and Popping Sound
We have a 2005 Montana 3500 RL. When sitting stationary and all the supports in place, we are experiencing loud cracking and popping sounds. When we first heard this, we were in 100+ degree weather and thought it was expansion related. We went for some time without any problem, but it just cropped up again and with very little temperature swing. The source is somewhere in the ceiling or roof in the area of the opposing slides in the living room. There does not appear to be any roof damage, but we can't locate the source of the problem. Has anyone else had this experience? If so, what did you do about it?

No, but is it level? Square? Are the supports equal in height? Sounds like stress caused.

I had also experience that kind of noise. I went out and adjusted the rear stabilizers down about one turn each. Noise stopped.

If the noise is in the AC you may have a wire arcing. If so pull the cover and tape the problem wire and check all others. This happened to us in 100+ temps last summer.

Not sure if it's the same, but our skylight would pop loudly occassionally as the sun came across. Used to make me jump straight up.

I think that I may have figured this out. You're not going to believe this, and it makes me feel a little stupid. We got the popping and snapping to quit by turning off the surround sound. Apparently the transfer of the sound to all of the speakers sounded realistic.
I couldn't believe that the rig could be shifting so much, but I also couldn't believe that it was coming through the speakers.

Glad you brought this up because, if this should happen to us we will now know what it is. Don't feel stupid, because you came up with the cause before any of us did, and we all learned something. Great work!!!

Oh no, don't feel bad. Glad you shared your experience.
The surround sound is really cool. Ours gets me all the time.
I'm always looking out the window before I realize that it's the movie!

Ar Ar Ar.
We've had this happen a couple of times and we thought something hit us from outside. I even went up on the roof to see how big the falling branch was!
If you don't turn the DVD player off when you're done with it eventually it's going to start making noise, usually loud too. We've had the silly thing turn itself on & start playing a DVD in the middle of the night. It's POSESSED!
Cheers,
Muddypaws

hahahaha - muddy paws!
Our stick house system does that - wakes me straight out of bed and on a run! With these new UHF remotes from Dish, a neighbor is always turning my system on or changing channels for me. I've performed a few exorcisms on the whole system, but it keeps coming back!

Like everyone else, there is no reason to feel like you do, we all have a story like that. We can all laugh about it now, but at the time it really was embarrassing. BTW welcome to our family.

Our DVD player is also POSSESSED!!! For several days we kept hearing a thumping, clunking type sound, checked all around outside,on the roof, etc. etc. Even thought it might be rodents (big ones!!!) Finally realized it was the drawer on the DVD player-- it would start opening and closing ---when it was trying to open it would hit the door of the cabinet.
