Trailer aid plus

http://www.amazon.com/Trailer-Aid-Pl...ailer+aid+Have any of you folks ever used one of these with your monty? I was thinking of buying one to make life easier for greasing bearings. What do you think??

I have one that I bought for my previous TT and it worked fine. After I bought my 3400RL, I found it worthless with the MorRyde suspension. If you're close, you can have mine. I use the yellow blocks (also too expensive, IMHO) that interlock. I build a proper ramp with them and have had no trouble. Plus, with weight issues, I only have to carry the interlocking blocks that perform dual duty.

I have one also will give it to anyone that wants it takes up space and I now have level up. At the time I thought it would be a good deal but after using it a time or two I put it in the garage never to be seen again till you mentioned it. I like the yellow block idea doing double duty. Just my 2 cents worth.

My 20Tbottle jack takes up a lot less room, and works with my truck.

I've read others' report that in rare instances, the axle travel is so good that even when the one wheel is on the device, the other wheel does NOT elevate and one still needs to use something under the axle or frame to get the wheel off the ground to remove it or rotate it. I am under the impression that this is the case for my rig so I just went the jack/block method and not buy something else that might not work.

Plus, it's just another thing to carry or store somewhere, on top of the stuff I already carry or store. There's a great chance you could use this, I just wanted you to be aware of this past concern, I've read.

Worked for my 3000CRE susp, but not the new 4100, extra inch of travel defeats it. Just sold it, last weekend. Really works great on lighter trailers.

I found a screw in one of my 310RET tires. After doing some research and speaking with a Camco CS person and informing him of my suspension type (Mor/Ryde CRE/3000), I purchased the Trailer aid plus. A photo of the result is below. The front tire didn't come close to getting off the ground. I spoke with a local dealer and took his recommendation of using a bottle jack under the axle as close to the tire as I could get with a jack stand next to the jack. Worked fine. I will be contacting the Camco rep with the photo and returning the Trailer Aid Plus.

Like said ... they work well on lighter trailers ... would I use one on a 13K plus fiver ... not hardly. As compared to using a jack or your level up (if you have it) this method puts 100% of the shared weight of two axles onto one axle. Those of us that have 6000# axles are already next to axle capacity if you have an average loaded fiver and I don't want to risk loosing my axle camber. I've seen several returns of these in stores with the bolts on the bottom that are used as traction points torn off or just plain bent over. The plastic teeth are also usually ground down smooth. Trailer-Aid doesn't like concrete or smooth asphalt surfaces in most instances ... it just scoots along causing the above damage. Yeah I know ... some of you out there swear by the device ... I'll stick with my bottle jack and V block setup.
