Installing Bulldog dual moter landing gear

The new set and switches arrived today and I was able to get in about 3 hours work in between thunderstorms. There's a video showing how to remove a typical single motor set and install theirs here: Everything was easy to remove save for the motor & gear box (box was cracked, so maybe that was the issue). Photos in my slide show are:

Marking the hole I'll have to cut in the street side bulkhead for that leg's gear box clearance. I wanted the pull-pin to be forward, rather than to a side, so this is what I'll have to do.

Street side leg installed with no modifications needed.

How much larger the 'shoes' are. All the hardware is much heavier made. Even the locating tabs are welded on instead of stamped flanges.

The control panel that I'm still not certain where I'll put. Although it's weather proof, I'm not too keen on having on an outside wall where anyone can play with it. They say to use no less than 10 gauge wire to complete the installation, but I'm going with something heavier. Be picking that up tomorrow morning and figuring this part out first (besides making that hole).

The broken leg's shaft.

Finished and Monty's now standing on it's new legs & shoes. New system is a little slower than stock, but now I can level a bit with the legs and they are a whole lot stronger. Only issues I ran into was not with the Bulldog system, but finding the right size crimp connectors - had to use twist on & caulk for now. Also still have to get some battery connectors from an auto parts place. Otherwise it's all done in about seven hours total (not bad for someone turning 70 this weekend!).

Slideshow shows the locking thermostat box I settled on to secure the switches. Just couldn't find any decent mounting place inside that would work, and this will keep wandering hands from doing things they shouldn't.

Completing the wiring inside the gen. compartment wasn't that difficult. The way Keystone wired the original leg motor meant I couldn't just cut off the power feed as it looks like the stabilizers (or something) are daisy chained off it. Someday I'll figure that out, but not now.

I couldn't find anywhere in the instructions or on the Bulldog website about any maintenance. Their 5th wheel specialist answered an email and said I could squirt some grease onto the jack screw before mounting them, but otherwise nothing is needed. Another something not to worry about!
