Door scraping on power awning on new 2014 3850FL

The power awning manual says “Do not allow corner of entry door to contact awning fabric. Otherwise pre-mature wear or tearing of awning fabric could occur.” With the awning extended correctly, the top of the door scrapes across the underside of the awning. The door cannot be partially opened as it is locked into the open position with the gas strut. Design defect or normal? Will this cause premature failure of the awning material? Any ideas for a solution?
Thanks in advance.

Roll the awning in 1/4 turn, awning should clear.

I am pretty sure the awning manual for my rig suggested rolling the awning back just a touch from full extension (the flap still hangs down) just as Hook recommended.

Roll it back until the flap points straight down, then no scraping.

Try this: http://tweetys.com/awning-door-roller-and-disc.aspx We had it on our old travel trailer and it worked great. Jim

Mine hit too on our previous 3750FL, roll back just a little like others have stated.

Everyone has given the correct advice. When extending the awning, I leave the door open. The awning will not hit the top of the door until the very end of the extension process. A quick retract bump of the awning will lift the awning off of the door.

Thank you for all the responses! Yet another question unanswered by the dealer is solved by MOC. I am sure I will have a few more questions in upcoming days. I guess a new coach requires learning everything all over again.

There are days when I set up and forget to roll back the awning. I also get into the relax mode and never change things. The door has brushed the awning bottom many times and has yet to do any damage. I think: nothing to worry about.
