OOPS, now how did that happen

I think we are officially ready for the new camping season. Dealer visit for the genny oil and filter change, propane fill, purchase of a MAxxair vent cover for the bedroom, and finally got the rear view camera system fixed on the second attempt. Ours is a wired Voyager system, that went on the blink last year. The extended service plan covered the system (less $50 deductible). First attempt resulted in a new monitor installation which did not result in the solution, so they had to order a new wiring run for the truck. Turns out (or so they say) that somehow, the wiring run was somehow impacted by the Firestone air bags which resulted in the connection being severed. A headache to track down, but hopefully we are good to go. Reservations made for the local KOA (Huntington, WV.... well actually Milton) for the week after Easter and the entire family is so ready for the week to arrive. Still have to install the vent cover, which is simple to do. I am pleased the dealer tracked the problem down even if it did take a return trip there. Once you have that rear-view behind the rig, it is very difficult to be without it, at least for me!! So, after all of this, even though there are still some of that dang white fluffy stuff still forecst to fall from the sky, I now consider it to be Spring!! Happy Camping All!!

Way to go Bingo, maybe spring will get here quicker for the rest of us. Somehow our first camping trip is still on the back burner. Maybe I’ll explain that a little later on.

A little off the topic here Bingo but I see you are installing the Maxair vent cover. I have been also thinking of putting one on my fantastic fan so when it's raining we can still use the fantastic fan. But I have heard that with the Maxair you can't open the vent all the way which wouldn't work with the fantastic fan. I am buying a new fantastic fan as the one in the trailer has had the circuit board take a crap. this is after fantastic fan co. sent me a new lift motor and thermostat, and that didn't help. So buying a new one that has the remote for it. Any ideas on this?

Dave,
There are models specifically for Fantastic Fan installations and Maxxair even has their own combination system now with a remote. Here are a couple of alternatives:

Fan-Tastic Vent Cover

Maxxair Alternatives (Pdf's, etc.)

Hope this helps,

Bingo

I had the Fantastic vent covers installed several months ago. I like them. On a previous trailer we had the Max Air covers and we liked them as well. Both types have their benefits. Max Air has an additional screen to keep bugs out of the covers but they reduce airflow and tend to make the fan seem slightly louder. The Fantastic vent covers flow much more air and can be removed with 4 clips for easy cleaning and maintatance. Camco has some nice covers as well and are somewhat cheaper than any other I have found.

The Maxx Air vent cover does indeed not allow the lid on a fantastic fan to open all the way. I have one on my unit and it works fine. As soon as the lid contacts the top of the cover it stops opening. This is normal and doesn't seem to reduce the air flow. Having the ability to run the fan in the rain more than makes up for whatever reduced air flow there might be

Hi Bingo!
We've been "camping" since last June, about 9 months straight! It's getting a little small, kinda like living in a confined space, can't hide from Judi!
Take care
Chuck
