Rotten floor

Well checked the Monty for mice this am. Have three traps set. Have caught two so far. put my hand on the floor where there was a touch of water and it felt soft. cut out a section of floor covering and not good news. found white/black wood, soaked. leaned on it and right through. Wow. Removed all contents and stripped out the rest of the flooring. Was wet and black by the convience center also.Removed the rear ward wall panel and now getting ready to remove the convience center. Have all the lines disconnected and it got dark. Plan on replacing the whole floor. 1 sheet of 4x8 plywood. Does not look like a complicated job, just time consuming. I believe the leak has been from day one. Tomorrow will try and determine the leak source. wish me luck.

Good luck! I suggest marine grade plywood...
You certainly have your work cut out for you, no pun intended.

Thanks. Yes Marine grade and what I did with my slide floor was to apply 2 coats of fiberglass resin to the ply wood before installation. On the edges particularly. I have had good success with this.

I like the idea of the fiberglass resin added. Should make it even more durable.

I would contact Keystone customer service. When we took a factory tour at a Rally a couple of years ago, the man leading the tour told us that the flooring had a lifetime warranty from the manufacturer. If what he said isn't true it would be good to know, if not you should be able to get some help with this.

Would be great if true. Floor repairs are sure labor intensive.

Found the source of the water leak. Compartment door top rearward, the gasket is flat and the door does not seal. I can see light and when water was applied , wow it poured in even when not directly applied to the door. but above and allowed to run down the side as rain would. The center of the door also had a slight leak at the moulding joint. Checked the convinence side and where the two doors meet there is a small gap at the top which is definetly a design flaw. You can see light and water leaked in when applied with a light flow. Total disgusting workmanship. This kind of leak can be undetected until it is too late as it is in my case. Now on to removing the exsisting floor.

Floor has been replaced with treated 3/4 plywood. Ready to put flooring in but it was raining and the temp has dropped and now snow. Be a day or so before I get the job completed . It looks like one of the compartment door was removed before, and not by me and I bought the unit new.

Found a soft spot in the underneath storage area floor by one of the hatches. Had a water leak some time ago, but apparently it is still leaking. Leak is by the left side access hatch, and only affects a small area. Question: Is the vinyl flooring removable and can it be reinstalled?

Tks,

Rodger

A sharp razor knife can do wonders. I haven't looked close enough to see if it can be removed in one piece. Maybe someone else has done this. John

Hi

When we had our replaced they used plywood with Formica or a similar product on it and sealed the edges with silicone. Now when I get a water leak in the plumbing or rain thru an open door it doesn’t get on the wood.

The one time since replacement that I had a plumbing leak behind the service center it was while we had left the trailer and gone next door for a couple of hours. The basement held water like a swimming pool. LOL

The company that did the work gave me a life time warranty on the floor. If it goes bad they will replace it again. I do nave them do a sealant inspection of the entire trailer once a year.
