3800RE Stove Backsplash

Well, I finally got tired of looking at the backsplash and decided to replace it with glass tiles. What I thought was lexan with a film behind it for the faux tile pattern was actually GLASS. And it is not safety glass. The plastic film on the back of the regular glass will keep it safe if you happen to hit it with something. BUT if you wish to replace it like I did...cover the surface with tape and then slowly try to pry it off. Mine shattered and sent some small glass shards bouncing forward towards me. But I did get it off. It is held in place with double-sided tape running across top and bottom as well as other random bits of tape running vertically. I used 12 x 12 sheets of tile that has 3/4 inch square bits of glass tile in various shades, some marble, and some metal tiles held on a backer. The overall mosiac is actually 11 5/8 by 11 5/8 inch square so I used 3 sheets to cover the back wall in total. I also added a single row cut off another mosiac to increase the height of the backsplash and then framed it with a border that is 1/2 wide by 12 inches long (used 6 in my job) and had a antique bronze finish so that it matches the faucet and door pulls in my monty. Tiles, etc were sourced from Lowes, but Home Depot also has several that one might consider. I used Locktight Instant Grab adhesive (tub surround version) to secure the tiles to the wall. Worked very well and no smell. John

We found the same sheets of backsplash tile at Lowe's recently. Then about a week later we found a little different selection in Home Depot. The DW had received a slightly different backsplash material she ordered from Amazon after seeing something on the forum a while back. It was lighter but once she found these matts with glass tile she sent the other stuff back. John, did you have to cut your material with a tile wet saw?

I need to take some pictures and post them...so I will try to do this on Sunday...but I promise that I will get it done as soon as I can. I used mosiac tiles that had straight edges on the left and right edges...ie, they don't key into the next tile so you don't have to use a tile saw to get straight edges. Of course, if the dear wife didn't like the ones with straight edges...then you could have Lowes or Home Depot cut them for you. PS...got to go judge a beer competition tomorrow in Tampa so I know I won't get the camera out until Sunday sometime. John

Here is a pic of a partial sheet of the mosiac tile and some pieces of one of the 12 inch long by 1/2 inch wide border pieces so you can see what the tile looks like as a sheet. John

Thought some may want to see the backsplash with grout in place. John
