Liquid Calgon Really Frees Up Sticky Pull Valves

I read on the forum a good while ago that liquid Calgon is good for your black tank and had even returned sticking gate valves back to working order after several tanks had been ran through with the Calgon. Well, it's true. So if some of you are having your gate valves stick, and start failing to close up 100% start adding a cap or two full of Calgon to each black tank. After a several tanks are ran through the valves will free up like new. Thanks for those that shared this long ago! I added an extra gate valve at the hose connection, but now I don't need it anymore. Of couse I will continue to use it just to be safe.

Yes it will lubricate any waste valve. Mentioned the black tank because it is usually the one that is the most stubborn as far as the pull valve getting where it will not close.

Is using Calgon ok with the enzyme type products like Happy Camper? I'd love to get the valves a little easier to operate.

Started doing this with the last unit we had. Was told that it was good to use it while in motion because it would "coat" the insides of the tanks (making them) and aid in the "removal" of liquids and solids from your holding tanks.

I have been using Calgon in my black tanks for years. On capful along with the killer stuff especially before traveling down the road to let the motion slosh the tanks clean. You know how it make the water feel slick? Does the same thing to the inside of the black tank. I have never used it in my gray tank as I feel the soapy water does just fine in there.

I have used the Calgon and add a cup of fabric softener, usually the crystal types. Between the two the tanks smell better ( yes even the gray) and prevent sticking! My sensors have never fouled!

Michael, I have used Calgon and the black tank enzime chemical at the same time for the last couple years. Unfortunately, my tank level sensors haven't improved yet.

Bought Calgon liquid at Wal-Mart in Great Falls Montana, but I don't know if it is at every Wal-Mart Store. I bought Blue DEF (diesel engine fluid) at Wal-Mart, but some Wal-Marts don't carry it, and they don't even know what it is.

I bought 2-32 oz bottles through Amazon for 19.39 (shipping was 8.29 of that but no sales tax). Bought it through Amazon cuz I got tired of looking all around and not finding it at local stores.

I've picked it up at both Wal-Mart (ugh) and Target.

I've been using Calgon liquid several years now. You can find it at Walmart and big chain grocery stores sometimes, sometimes not. You'll have an easier time finding it in NON-metro areas where well water is the the norm. In metro areas with city water I've had a harder time finding it. It's also not a "big" seller and if they do stock it, they don't stock much of if, so it's hard to spot. It's in a white plastic container about 6 in high. Has a blue label with a rainbow on it. Hope this helps. PS: Doesn't seem to effect the TST black tank chemical I use along with it.

I finally found Calgon at WalMart yesterday. Boy they sure hide that stuff. It is in the Fabric Softener isle on the very bottom shelf pushed to the rear. Could they make it more difficult to find????

You really have to look for it. Some Stores have had it with the detergents, some with the hand soaps, some -- well it can be anywhere so ask a salesperson or go up front and let them look it up on the computer. I always keep a couple spares around and when getting low - look for more.

Couldn't find it at Walmart this last trip so I'm trying something new. Found Cascade in dissolving packets with Dawn dish soap inside. Going to give them a try.

Calgon should have no effect on the enymes in your system. Calgon is chelating agent- ie it attaches itself- to the minerals in water that make it hard. that is it sucks the calcium, magnesium, etc up and leaves just nice soft water just as a water softener in your house does. The enzymes will still work the way they are supposed to.
Gosh, I guess 4 years of college chemistry did pay off.
