New Member and Dreaming of a Monty
Hello everyone. I have spent the past two weeks reading almost every topic in the MOC site and loved every minute of it. Figure since I can't be out there, I'll be there through you folk.
My husband and I went to our first RV show in Atlantic City a few weeks ago. Never thought about there being so many RVs and types of RVs. Must have gone into and round over 70 and just the ones that looked interesting. All were either nice, expensive, not made to last a long time, or not what I'd like to travel or fulltime in.... until I found and fell in love with the 3500RL. Oh, man!!!! I'm hooked. We have camped a few times in a pop-up in our early years (before kids) and my daughters and I have site camped at the Pennsic Wars in Slippery Rock, PA for the past three years in tents,(hubby will not camp unless he has an A/C and a recliner). We are in the looking and preparing for retirement stage. The youngest child has just started High School. Looking to get serious in our search in the spring of 2007. ::smiles:: but I know it will be the 3500RL. We live in New Jersey, just across the river from Phily.

Welcome....We started looking 5 years before we actually bought one. When we started looking we wanted everything we saw. First it was the Teton (to heavy) then it was the Snowbird then something else. I spent 1 1/2 months in the hospital last year so Paul would bring me brochures on different 5th wheels. We settled on the Holiday Rambler Presidential. After I got out of the hospital we went to the dealers lot and were headed to purchase the Holiday Rambler when I spotted the Montanas. I couldn't remember ever seeing them before. So I told Paul, "Wait, lets go look at those". The rest is history. We walked into the 3400RL and I knew we were home. We ordered it with everything and picked it up in April. We haven't stopped going since. 2 trips to see my daughter in Montana, bought a house and we live there now. But that won't stop us. Now we will just travel south to California to see my mom. I love my 5ver. For the first month Paul couldn't get me out of it. I even wanted to sleep in it all the time. So beware they are addicting as is this forum. Happy RVing. Kathi

Welcome Lessie and Ed to the MOC. Now "just across the river from Phily" could be anywhere from Paulsboro to Burlington. Being just up the Schuly from Phily (Reading atually) I know the area well. Drove truck through most of the area.
Looking to hear more about your adventure into the world of the Montana owner.

Welcome Lessie and Ed, We have looked at the 3500 as well. It is my wife's new favorite floor plan. Maybe in a couple of years we will be ready to trade up to a new 3500. Hope you enjoy yours.

Welcome Leslie & Ed. Bad news, the deaming never stops even after you get a Monty. We have had our 2955 for over two years now. We thought this unit was all we would ever want and need. Well that is true but since we stepped into the 3400 model we can't stop dreaming about someday having the new model. Hope your dreams of a monty are realized soon!

LOL Glenn, you're correct "just across from Philly" covers a lot of area. We live in Somerdale, New Jersey, a jog down the White Horse Pike from Berlin. A dear friend talked us into moving to NJ. Said "Mild winters, little snow"... ::grins:: She lied!!! Moved here in 1995... In 1996 had 3 foot of snow on the ground and buried for 3 days.. More snow than I'd seen in my life. Looking to depart NJ for good after the child graduates, not so much for milder winters, but cheaper taxes. If we had rented when we arrived, we'd have run for a bridge within weeks. Great place for being close to Philly for life and the beach, but between the property tax and the car insurance, tis painful on the wallet. Trust me, I think New Jersey is the "only state you can get into for free, but must pay to get out of"..

Glad you joined us. While you are dreaming about that 3500RL this is a great place to get your questions answered and meet wonderful people.

Thank you All for the warm welcome. I am sure in the upcoming months and years that we will ask more questions than most of you have time to answer. I am still reading all areas of this site for information on everything to do with RV life style. After just receiving my notification of next year's property tax and the increase, if it were not for the high school child, we'd skip the dreaming part of the plan and head straight for the buying stage.
